John M. Philipp, 81

John M. Philipp, 81 of Wittenberg, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at his home.
He was born on December 6, 1936 in Wausau, the son of the late Michael Sr. and Anna (Lewandowski) Philipp.
On April 25, 1959, John was united in marriage to Sharon Kay Carlson in Shawano. She survives.
John was employed at F.W.D./Seagrave, Clintonville, until his retirement in 2003. He was a member of PACE International Union and Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. John and Sharon were foster parents for Lutheran Social Services for some time. John enjoyed restoring collector vehicles and going to classic car and truck shows, in which he had won many trophies with his 1946 and 1969 Chevy trucks he restored. John also loved camping, country music, gardening, the Green Bay Packers and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Philipp of Wittenberg; three sons, Gregory Philipp of Eland, Jeffrey (Sharla) Philipp and Steven Philipp all of Wittenberg; six grandchildren, Jonathon Philipp, Lisa (Josh) Mulder, Carrie (Jay) Meydam, Nicole Philipp, Amber (Jordan) Hull and Hailey (fiancé, Shannon) Philipp; great-grandchildren, Aaron, Josiah and Samuel Mulder, Aiden and Issac Meydam, Maddelyn and Levi Hull; siblings, Barbara (Ray) Pozorski of Schofield, Rosemary (sp. Friend, Edward Curran) Fierek of Shawano, Ann (Gus) Weller of Wittenberg, Lucille Hinkfuss of Neenah, Jean Osflag of St. Cloud, MN, Janice (Milton) Marquardt of Shawano, JoAnn (Albert) Winkler of Gillett and Michael (Joyce) Philipp of Shawano; five brothers-in-law, Melvin (Janet) Carlson of Marshfield, Douglas Carlson of Birnamwood, Randy (special friend, Joanne) Carlson of Tomah, Rick (Laura) Carlson of Wittenberg and Ronnie (special friend, Vicki) Carlson of Birnamwood; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Hubert) Stankowski and Tina Carlson both of Wausau and many other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Carol Gee, Mary Staszak, Michelle Ebel and Alice Herrmann, one sister-in-law, Christine Carlson and father and mother-in-law, Art and Merna (Kaufman) Carlson.
The funeral service will be held at 1PM on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Wittenberg. Rev. Amy Perron will officiate. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 11AM until the time of service at the church.
