Benjamin Anton Clark, 93

Benjamin Anton Clark, 93, of Pickerel, WI, passed away peacefully in his sleep at Homme Home in Wittenberg WI on October 12, 2018. He was born in Pickerel, WI on Aug13, 1925 to Benjamin H. and Frances (Fischer) Clark. He married Virginia Powell on Sep 3, 1960, and she preceded him in death on January 13, 2018. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pickerel and served as the church Trustee. Benjamin grew up on his family’s rural dairy farm. Throughout his life he enjoyed activities which brought him close to nature: hunting, fishing, and trapping as well as picking apples from trees he had planted, foraging for wild mushrooms and berries, and putting up a large kitchen-garden with Virginia. In the spring he would find the first arbutuses growing in the woods and pick a bouquet for Virginia. He was a veteran of World War II (1944-1946), being in the 101st Airborne Div., 327th Glider Inf. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge, the Siege of Bastogne, and the Rhineland Campaign. He received many medals for his service including the European Theatre Medal with 2 Bronze Stars. He was belatedly awarded the Bronze Star for action during the Siege of Bastogne. After the war, he worked in Michigan as a logger until returning to take over the family farm. He built a home across the street from his parents’ homestead where he raised his family and lived with Virginia all the days of their lives. In his later years he developed a passion for photography, his favorite subject being his grandchildren and great grandchildren who brought him much joy.
Benjamin is survived by 6 children: Sherry Danielson, Connie (Helmut) Kiesling, Mary (Tom) Moore, Benjamin S. (special friend Angie Renken) Clark, Peggy (Scott) Dantuma, and Jenny (Dan) Bodart; 11 grandchildren: Eric (Linda) Danielson, Karena (Kurt) Seefeldt, Karl (Tricia) Danielson, Helmut (Jeny) Kiesling, Heather (Justin) Yunke; Rebecca Hrovat, Ryan (Kristin) Hrovat, Michael Hrovat, Ashley (significant other Eric ) Clark, Bailey and Trevor Bodart; 11 great grandchildren, Kassie and CJ Danielson, Tyler and Jacob Danielson, Hannelore and Giselle Kiesling; Matthew and Alyeska Seefeldt, Oliver, Max and Rou Hrovat. He is also survived by his siblings Clara Haile and George Clark and many nieces, nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, John, Mary and Elizabeth.
Memorial services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pickerel, WI. with Fr. Dave Zimmerman officiating. Inurnment to follow at Pearson Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to time of service at church.
