Billie Bussert, of Elcho, died Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Theda Care Hospital in Appleton. He was 94 years old. He was born on June 30, 1924, in Milwaukee, a son of William and Adelheit (Luedke) Bussert. He married Velma Kaplanek on April 12, 1947, in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on September 2, 1988. On October 3, 1992 he married Marjorie Shulze at the United Church of Christ in Elcho. She survives and resides in Kimberly.

He served in the United States Navy having been stationed in Rio de Janeiro during WWII.

Billie was employed by the city of Milwaukee for 35 years retiring as a supervisor in 1984.

He moved to Post Lake in 1984 and was a member of the United Church of Christ Congregational, the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post #377, in Elcho and the Free and Accepted Masons in Milwaukee.

He enjoyed golfing and played in a league at Maplewood Golf Course in Pickerel.

Survivors including his second wife Marjorie are a daughter, Cathleen (Ronald) Olson, Hortonville; a son, William (Jackie) Bussert, Sheboygan; a son-in-law, Jeffrey Richard, Glendale, Arizona; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

In addition to his first wife Velma he was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Richard, two sisters and two brothers.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at 11 a.m. at United Church of Christ, Congregational with Rev. Dana Schindler officiating. Burial will take place in Elcho Cemetery where the Elcho veterans will conduct military honors.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. on Tuesday until the time of services at the church.
