Boys & Girls Club holding basic needs drive

For the Antigo Times

The Boys and Girls Club of Langlade County is having a basic needs drive for their Club members. All youth who come to the Club find a safe environment, caring adults, healthy meals and snacks, and quality programming. However, the additional ways they help individual kids and families is very unique. Some of their Club members do not have clothes and shoes that fit.

This is something the Club has been doing over the years, mostly internally with Club staff reaching out to people they know who have slightly used clothing or shoes. By meeting basic needs, providing educational tools and encouraging youth to explore new interests, they provide a path for them to work toward goals that can transform their futures and break the cycles of low graduation rates, crime and poverty.

The things we take for granted, that others are wishing for include: socks, underwear, shoes, winter boots and coats, hats and mittens, pants and shirts, hair brushes, tooth brushes and toothpaste, chap stick, hand sanitizer, deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, and soap.

For specific sizes and gender, please contact Hilary Messer-Franz at 715-627-1389 Ext. 4 or e-mail [email protected]
