Thomas J. Welnetz, 89

Thomas J. Welnetz, former Antigo resident, died Monday, October 1, 2018, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. He was 89 years old. He was born on March 11, 1929, in Antigo, a son of Frank and Mary (Richter) Welnetz. He married Annemarie Lenz on September 9, 1952, in Munich, Germany. She preceded him in death on November 3, 2006.

He was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1947.

Mr. Welnetz proudly served in the United States Army from 1947 to 1968 having been stationed in Japan, Germany, Korea and Vietnam.

Following his retirement from the Army he returned to Antigo where he held several jobs, the last being at Amron Corp. as a security guard retiring in 1989.

Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Welnetz, Antigo; four sons, Robert Welnetz, Antigo, Ronald (Laurie) Welnetz, Antigo, Randolph (Kay) Welnetz, Roseberg, Oregon, Timothy (Bonnie) Welnetz, Madison; ten grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and close family friend, Sr. Lois of Green Bay.

He was preceded in death by his wife, an infant daughter, Genevieve; two sisters, Dorothy Leindecker and Sr. Leonette Welnetz; seven brothers Francis, Nick, Leo, Ed, Clarence, Ernest and Raymond.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 8, 2018, at 11 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Mathew Simonar officiating. Military honors will be conducted following services at the funeral home.

Visitation will be 10 a.m. on Monday until the time of services at the funeral home.
