Catherine “Katy” Brittenham,
Catherine “Katy” Brittenham, of Antigo, died Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Care Partners under the care of LeRoyer Hospice and her family. She was 87 years old. She was born on April 27, 1931, in Phlox, a daughter of Henry and Mary (DeBroux) Verhasselt. She married Kenneth Brittenham on July 25, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Phlox. He preceded her in death on July 11, 2002.
For many years she graded and helped with digging potatoes on the family owned Brittenham Potato Farms. Mrs. Brittenham worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company Factory in Antigo sorting shoes for 10 years and was employed at Johnson Electric and Coil in Antigo making coils for 10 years.
She enjoys crocheting, gardening, camping, fishing and snowmobiling.
She was a member of the Lily Snow Birds Club where she served as secretary, championed ticket sales and was a longtime member of St. John Catholic Church, Antigo.
Survivors include four daughters, Sandy (Ed) Thielenhouse, Antigo, Angie Hafner, Antigo, Peggy Fleischman, Antigo, Janie (Dan) Washatko, Antigo; three sons, Dennis (Bonnie) Brittenham, Antigo, David (Karen “Cookie”) Brittenham, Wausau, Terry (Cindy) Brittenham, Antigo; eighteen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Verhasselt, Antigo; two brothers, Ben (Eloise) Verhasselt, Antigo, Clement Verhasselt, Wausau; special friend, Thomas Arndt, Oshkosh.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Fraley, two sons-in-law, Rick Fraley and FlyRod Fleischman; a granddaughter, Samantha Fraley; a grandson, Billy Brittenham; three sisters, Bernadine Noskowiak, Lucille Verhagen, Agnes Krivoshein; two brothers, Frances and Raymond Verhasselt.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 30, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at St John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Lily Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
