Jeremy “Minnow” Fischer, age 37 of Birnamwood, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, as the result of a brain aneurysm. As an organ donor, he gave the gift of life on November 9, impacting over 70 recipients and their families.

He was born on September 27, 1981, in Wausau, son of Jerry and Jan (Janicki) Fischer of Birnamwood. He was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 2000.

Minnow married his best friend and soul mate, Leslie Kurth on May 23, 2009, at St. John Lutheran Church in Mattoon. They have two beautiful children, Kailyn and Beau. He was a loving and loyal father and husband.

He worked for Miron Construction for 18 years, most recently as a project superintendent.

Minnow was a humble man who gave generously of himself. If you were meeting him for the first time, you parted ways as friends. He had a zest for life, a great sense of humor, and an infectious spirit. Minnow had a passion for the outdoors, especially hunting with his loyal Plott hounds.

He served on the board of directors for the Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association and the Northern Chapter of Wisconsin Deer Hunters Inc.

He is survived by his loving wife and children, Leslie, Kailyn, and Beau; parents, Jerry and Jan; sister, Wendy (Robert) Brown of San Marcos, CA; nephew and niece, Alec and Brenna Brown also of San Marcos, CA; father and mother-in-law, Dick and Carol Kurth of Wausau; and brother-in-law, Jon Kurth also of Wausau. He is additionally survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and good friends.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018, at 12 p.m. at the Bradley Funeral Home with Reverends Lance Hoelscher and John Ehlke officiating. Burial will take place at Holy Family Cemetery in the Town of Hutchins.

Visitation will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the funeral home.

Those who knew Minnow well know he was not a pretentious man. Come as you are, hunting attire and casual dress are encouraged.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family or to a memorial fund that will be established.
