John H. Turney, 85
John H. Turney, of Antigo, died Wednesday, November 7, 2018, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital. He was 85 years old. He was born on May 2, 1933, in Antigo, a son of Harry and Laura (Lang) Turney. He married Lorraine (Wild) Zenisek on October 15, 1966, at St. John Catholic Church, Antigo. She preceded him in death on July 25, 2013.
He was a graduate of Antigo High School, class of 1952.
John served in the United States Air Force from February 23, 1954, to January 8, 1958. Having been stationed in Germany.
He drove a delivery truck for Langlade Laundry in Antigo. John worked at Fleet Farm in Antigo for 22 years as a merchandise clerk in the paint department retiring in April 2013.
Survivors include three stepdaughters, Mary Ann (Dwayne) Scott of Mayville, Carol (Bob) Blevins of Wausau and Beverly (Wes) Hoffman of Wausau. He is also survived by many step-grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and friends.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two stepsons, Elmer Zenisek, and Anthony Zenisek; and five halfsisters, Jeanne Demlow, Ruth Newberry, Edith Eaton, Jane Kohler, Marion Dizell.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Mathew Simonar officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 13 from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church in Hoffmann Hall. Antigo veterans will conduct military honors at the church following Mass.
