2018 Lourdes On The Water Wrestling Classic in Oshkosh

A strong second day of wrestling at the Lourdes On The Water Wrestling Classic in Oshkosh this weekend led to the Antigo Wrestling team capturing 8th place, the highest team finish ever, out of 67 teams. An equally impressive feat was of the 31 victories captured by Antigo wrestlers over the course of the two-day event, 24 came by way of fall. That was fourth best for the entire tournament.

The top individual performance came from Senior Collinn Eldridge. Collinn used three pins on the first day to vault into the semi-finals, where he lost his first match. He was able to overcome the loss and defeat state ranked Isaiah McCormick to qualify for the third-place match. Collinn came up short in that match, but was able to score 35 team points with his fourth-place finish.

Nick Roller compiled 5 victories, 3 of which came by fall, against only two losses to finish in 7th, with 28 team points. The highlight of his tournament was a fall against conference competitor and state ranked Tony Matti that vaulted him into the top 8.

Ben Stimac, competing in what could have been the toughest bracket of the entire tournament, was victories 4 times against only two defeats, placing 9th with 21.5 team points.

Logan Edwards used his proclivity of pinning, successfully defeating 5 opponents by pinfall, in a total time of only 12:06. This tied for the tournament lead in number of pins, and he was the second fastest to achieve this feat. Logan was able to finish 12th and contribute 18 team points.

Korbin Krueger had a successful first day, achieving 2 victories and only 1 defeat. He finished in 12th place and achieved 14 team points.

Josh Huess found himself victorious 4 times against two defeats. Huess just missed the placement rounds, but still contributed 13 points.

Jovanni Castaneda also just missed the placement rounds, going 2-2. Castaneda contributed 9 team points.

Contributing team points were Jordan Dykstra, Dylan Warax, Brady VandeWeerd, and Talik Bussey with 6 each.

Also competing were Seth Beaber and Jacob Dettman.

Up next for Antigo is a dual meet in Lakeland on January 3rd. Varsity action starts at 7:00 pm.
