ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Wednesday, December 26th
5:51 PM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at Neva Road and Century Avenue.
6:37 PM Officers responded to a call from the manager of an area business on Jerome Street reporting that two subjects were in the business that he believed were shoplifting. The caller told officers that he had been watching the individuals for the past two weeks, whenever they were in the business. The subjects were described as a male subject, wearing a black jacket and a female subject wearing a purple jacket, with 4 children (1 girl, 2 boys & a baby). The caller told officers that he had seen them stealing various hardware pieces and a saw and observed them hide items in their coats at the bottom of the cart. Officers stopped the male and female subjects and located the stolen merchandise in a white bag and the female subject’s purse. They were cited with retail theft.
11:52 PM Officers responded to a call from a male at a residence on 5th Avenue reporting that he came home to a named male subject burglarizing his home. He told officers that the male subject left on foot, heading south through yards on 5th Avenue, carrying a large duffel bag. The caller told officers that the male subject left behind a back pack containing drug paraphernalia and a firearm. Officers went to the residence of a relative of the male subject on Morse Street, but there was no answer. Officers then went to a residence on Cherry Street where the subject had been known to stay. Officers were given permission to search the residence. The male subject was not found. Officers sent a teletype to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Office to be on the look-out for the male subject. Officers were unable to locate the male. The 27 year old male subject was referred for burglary and criminal trespass to a dwelling.
Friday, December 28th
6:48 PM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female reporting that her 15 year old daughter had called her from a residence on Gruber Street saying that an unknown female subject had come to the door, looking to speak with a male child in the home. When the female was told that he was not there, the unknown female subject tried to force her way inside. The female suspect’s vehicle was described as a white passenger car that was parked in the driveway to the east of the residence. Officers cited the 46 year old female subject with disorderly conduct.
Sunday, December 30th
12:21 AM Officers were out with 2 male subjects at 5th Avenue and Edison Street. A 48 year old male subject was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant and was transported to Corrections. The other 31 year old male subject was cited for urinating in public.
4:59 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that someone hit her vehicle in the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64 about 15 minutes prior to her call. She stated to officers that there were witnesses who could provide them with information on the other vehicle that left the scene. The striking vehicle was described as a tan/gold pickup truck with a topper. Officers were investigating.
9:35 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Field Street and Weed Street. The 27 year old female driver was arrested for possession of meth. The 47 year old male passenger was arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were transported to Corrections.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, December 26th
9:04 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he hit a coyote at Hwy. 64 and Cty. Rd. BB. He told officers that the vehicle was drivable and there were no injuries.
Thursday, December 27th
9:10 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she had just rolled her vehicle into the ditch on Hwy. 45 by Knight Road. No extrication was needed. The 28 year old female driver had head pain. The air bag had deployed. The vehicle was towed.
6:32 PM Officers responded to a report of a truck on its side on Cty. Rd. S, north of Hwy. 64. The caller was a passerby with no other information. As the vehicle was flipped over, the officer and the tow driver noticed liquid pouring out from under the truck. They were unsure if it was gasoline or melted snow. Photos were taken. The vehicle was towed to the owner’s residence.
Friday, December 28th
6:47 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his vehicle was struck and damaged by another vehicle at the Moose Lake boat landing while he was fishing, by an unknown suspect. It appeared to officers that the striking vehicle was stuck at some point and they attempted to pull it out with a snowmobile. Photos were taken.
Sunday, December 30th
12:52 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting an underage drinking party just past a residence on Rosedale Road. Officers were out with several vehicles at a bonfire. Several individuals fled into the woods and across a frozen pond when officers arrived. There were also several individuals above 21 at the scene. Two subjects under 18 years of age were turned over to relatives. Citations for underage alcohol were issued.
2:34 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Deresch Street. The 43 year old male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was transported to Corrections.
5:22 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a male reporting a structure fire on Cty. Rd. Z. The caller told officers that flames were showing and that the structure looked fully engulfed. Elcho Fire/EMS and Fire District Alpha responded. Human remains were located in the structure after the fire was extinguished. An autopsy was scheduled and the cause of the fire is under investigation. No foul play was suspected at the time. 1/2/19 The victim was identified as 79 year old Calvin Helgeson, owner of the property.
7:46 AM Officers responded to a call from a male at an area business on Cty. Rd. W reporting that his business had been burglarized the night before. He found his unlocked door open and his computer, bank bags & 2 phones were missing.
5:37 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she was just involved in an accident at Cty. Rd. C and Cty. Rd. I. There were vehicles in the roadway. The vehicles were towed.
9:40 PM Officers were out with a vehicle at the dead end of W. Hollister Road, off of Hwy. 55. Officers located the vehicle, running, at the turn around. The male driver was passed out behind the wheel. He told officers that he had been drinking prior to coming to that location, but not at the location. Officers located 2 marijuana pipes and 4 plastic bags of marijuana in the vehicle. The male subject was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 6th offense, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Monday, December 31st
10:24 PM Officers responded to an anonymous report of an underage party at a residence on Cty. Rd. C. Officers arrested a 16 year old female subject for obstruction. She was also cited for underage alcohol. A 36 year old female subject was cited for failure to prevent underage drinking. A 54 year old male subject at the scene was intoxicated and upset with officers because they weren’t out making arrests for meth and bothering him instead. At one point, the male said that if officers go to his house they “will have a 44 magnum in their faces.” The male subject was advised to stop making comments like that and other subjects at the scene tried to calm him down.
Tuesday, January 1st
1:09 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female reporting that a vehicle struck a tree at Hwy. 55 and N. Rolling Stone Lake Road. The 65 year old female driver was cited for inattentive driving. The vehicle was towed.
8:55 AM Officers responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover accident in front of a residence on Valley Road. The caller told officers that one person was out of the vehicle and there were no injuries. The vehicle was on its side in the ditch. The 17 year old male driver told officers that he was westbound on Valley Road when he lost control on the icy pavement and slid into the ditch on the south side of the road, rolling the pickup truck on its side.
