Kathleen Ann Sefcik, 72, of Cleveland, TN, unexpectedly passed on, on Saturday, December 15, 2018, surrounded by her family at Tennova Health Care, Cleveland, TN.

Kathleen (Kathy, Hummer, Tag) a native of Polar and Merrill, WI, was the daughter of the late Orlin Folkedahl and the late Fern Krueger Gulke. She was a graduate of Wisconsin Academy (Colombus, WI), attended Andrews University (Barrien Springs, MI) and graduating from Hinsdale (IL) School of Nursing and the University of Chattanooga (TN) with a BSN degree.

She enjoyed sunrises and sunsets, gardening, quilting, antique hunting, gift giving, traveling with friends, time with and hosting family. An edited excerpt from a 50th high school reunion publication, “after graduating Hinsdale in 1968 I moved to Hollywood, Florida. By myself. Didn’t plan it that way, but that’s what happened. No money, just a map. Didn’t matter. It was my first big adventure, and I thought it was GREAT! Kentucky, Tennessee! New states! New things to see! I arrived at my rental house on Thursday, found my way to the beach Friday after my job interview, and started work on Monday. Things were simpler in those days.”

“I met George in Florida, and we were married in 1970. He, a transplant from New York, we bonded over the absence of snow shovels in our lives and the Miami Dolphins. Both of our children, Teresa and Glen, were born there. In the fall of ’75 we moved to Tennessee and have lived in Bradley County for 43+ years.”

Her 40 year career as a registered nurse and administrator included hospital floor nursing, ICU, ER nurse supervisor, and specializations in geriatrics via home health and hospice. Beloved and respected by patients, colleagues and employees.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents and older sister, Joyce Volm (Plover, WI).

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, George; daughter Teresa Sefcik (Chattanooga, TN); son Glen Sefcik (Pensacola, FL). Sisters Sandra (Ken) Thiede (Waterford, WI); Susie (Kevin) O’Day (Merrill, WI); Nancy Folkedahl (West Bend, WI) and their families: Vicki, Chuck, Maggy, Mandy, Jamie, E.J., Brett, Jack, Grant, Cian & Emma.
