For Antigo Times

2019 is here and it is time for all of you who say you are going to come out to the Center to come and check it out. You have made a resolution or two or three. Get healthy, lose weight and meet new friends. You can do all three at the Center.

Monday –Thursday mornings 9-10am, there is exercise with Kathy and friends. Mahjong (a game of Chinese origin) is played on Monday afternoons from 1-3pm.

Tuesday, January 15th, from 1:30-3:30pm there will be crocheting, embroidery and knitting of any kind, or any craft you would like to do. Bring what you are working on and join us. Wednesday afternoons from 1-3pm, there is Bingo. On Thursday afternoons, cards, Hand and Foot, Canasta and Pinochle are played. If you don’t know how to play, someone will teach you. On Friday, there is music from 2-4pm with the Stone Soup Brothers band. Come and sing along on the first three Fridays of the month.

The Senior Center is for anyone over 55. Dues are $10 a year. Coffee and conversation is on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9-11am. Come to coffee with ideas for some new things that we can do at the Center.

The Center was very busy in 2018. We took part in the Healthy Walk, sold hot dogs at Music in the Park, had a brat fry at Lakeside and had a float in the Homecoming parade. Our tours took us to Laona for the Camp 5 train ride, Waupaca for a boat ride on the Chain O’ Lakes, a tour the Raptor Center and the car museum in Aniwa.

Lunch Bunch meets once a month, usually on Tuesday at 11:30am. This month we will meet on Tuesday, January 15th at BB Jack’s. Come join us.

Ideas for trips and lunch are always welcome.

Looking ahead for February, Joe Hermolin from the Historical Museum will be giving a presentation on the Historical Building in Antigo on Tuesday, February 12th at 1:30pm.

Also in the planning, maybe in March, is a trip to Rhinelander to tour the brewery, do lunch and some shopping. If anyone is interested in this trip, call the Center at 715-627-6632.

Our goal for 2019 is to get more members and a different building for the Centers, so we can do more events. Remember, the Senior Center of Langlade County can also be a Community Center for Langlade County.
