Laverne A. Duchan, 92

Laverne A. Duchan died Saturday, January 12, 2019 at her home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 92 years old.
She was born in Polar on October 5, 1926, daughter of the late Frank and Alma (Wierschke) Blasczyk. She married Floyd Duchan on April 27, 1946 at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo, and he preceded her in death on October 16, 2002.
Laverne was a 1944 graduate of Antigo High School. She was employed at Eastview Manor.
She loved to garden, grow raspberries, spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, knit, and sew. She was also active in the quilting group at St. John’s in Polar.
She was a member of SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church.
Survivors include 2 daughters, Sally (Gary Roettger) Boettcher and Lynne (John) Marmes, both of Antigo; 4 sons, Michael (Wanda) Duchan, Dennis (Sue) Duchan, Randy (Connie) Duchan, and Scott (Arlene) Duchan, all of Antigo; a brother, Dale Blasczyk of Polar; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a brother, Lloyd Blasczyk.
A funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16 at SS. Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church, with Rev. Matt Simonar officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-10:45 a.m. Wednesday at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at Elmwood Cemetery.
