Tomahawk currently holds an honorable mention ranking as a team in Division 2, as well as 5 ranked individuals. With the loss, Antigo falls to 3-1 in conference competition.

The dual started at 182 pounds, where Korbin Krueger defeated Kade Wenninger by a 7-5 decision.

A marquee matchup at 195 pitted Antigo’s Collinn Eldridge, who holds a ranking of 4th at 182, against Honorable Mention Erick Decker. Collinn was able to control the match with multiple takedowns and hard riding, earning an 11-4 decision.

At 220 pounds, Nick Roller continued his hot streak by defeating Honorable Mention Tony Matti for the second time this year with a 7-5 decision.

Tomahawk earned some momentum by winning at heavyweight and 106 by fall, but then Conner Dettman dominated his way to a 18-2 technical fall at the 5:56 mark.

9th ranked Lance Knight defeated Sam Hoffman at 120, and 10th ranked Luke Knight defeated Logan Edwards at 126.

Antigo’s Ben Stimac, currently ranked 12th at 132, picked up the victory by pinfall at 132 to bring Antigo within one point at 21-20.

Unfortunately, the next few matches went Tomahawk’s way as they secured the team victory.

Ending the evening at 170 pounds, Royce Bauer was able to secure a fall at 3:00.

Coming up next for the Antigo wrestling team is a dual meet with Rhinelander at the Sheldon Fieldhouse in Antigo next Thursday, January 24th. Varsity action will start at 7:00. This will be the last dual meet of the season.

Antigo will also be in action next Saturday, the 26th, at the prestigious Pulaski Invite. Of the 16 teams participating, 6 are ranked in the top 10 in their respective divisions. It will be a great day of wrestling, and a great opportunity for the Antigo team to get valuable experience with high level competition.
