Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 2/11/19
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Monday, January 28th
1:23 PM Officers responded to a report of a car that hit a street sign at Langlade Road and Elmo Street. The vehicle was then stuck in a snow drift. The vehicle was towed. The Street Department was notified that the stop sign was down.
Tuesday, January 29th
3:32 PM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident at 5th Avenue and Superior Street. Property damage only.
Thursday, January 31st
10:22 AM Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident in the parking lot of an area business at Hwy. 64 and Neva Road. The two vehicles made contact while pulling into the parking lot. Property damage only. The 36 year old male driver of one vehicle was cited for an expired registration. The 43 year old male driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield the right of way.
Friday, February 1st
12:17 AM Officers stopped a vehicle on Neva Road. The 40 year old male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated and transported to Langlade Hospital and then to Corrections. He was also cited for unsafe lane deviation and operating without headlights.
4:20 PM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Clermont Street reporting that a male subject was in the women’s bathroom when four teenage girls walked in and saw him. The caller told officers that they had the subject on camera and stated that he was in the bathroom for about 15 minutes. The caller said that the male subject was now standing by the door wearing a green jacket with a black hood and had a blonde goatee. The 25 year old male subject was arrested for disorderly conduct, obstructing, possession of drug paraphernalia and bail jumping.
Saturday, February 2nd
12:10 AM Officers stopped a vehicle on Hwy. 45. The 50 year old male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 3rd offense, operating after suspension, bail jumping and on a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant.
2:25 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that her vehicle was struck by another vehicle that backed out of a driveway on Elm Street near 5th Avenue. The 33 year old female driver of the other vehicle was cited for having no insurance.
9:43 PM Officers were at an empty building on 5th Avenue responding to a report that a pipe had broken. The building was flooded. Officers took photos of the water rushing in. The Department of Public Works was notified.
Monday, February 4th
4:36 PM Officers responded to a report of a car versus pole accident at 5th Avenue and Clermont Street.
LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS
Wednesday, January 30th
6:04 AM Officers responded to a call from a 28 year old female reporting that she slid into the west ditch on Hwy. 55, approximately 2 miles north of Hwy. 64. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed out.
9:17 PM Officers reported a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 55, south of Pickerel Lake Road. The vehicle was towed out. There was minimal damage to the vehicle. The 27 year old male driver was given a warning for failure to maintain control and operating without a license on his person.
Thursday, January 31st
6:26 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she slid her pickup in the ditch on Hwy. 64, near Cty. Rd. S. The vehicle was towed out. There was no damage to the vehicle.
8:05 PM Officers were out at the scene of an accident at Hwy. 64 and Murphy Lane. A speed limit sign had been hit. The Highway Department was notified.
Friday, February 1st
8:05 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female reporting that she went off the road and struck a tree on Hwy. 55, south of Sawyer Lake Road. The female told officers that she had been going southbound on Hwy. 55. The roads were ice covered and very slippery. She then began sliding down a hill around a curve and overcorrected, entering the ditch on the east side of the road. The vehicle then went down an embankment and struck a large tree. She was not injured. The vehicle sustained heavy front end damage. The vehicle was towed.
9:04 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a truck with a trailer slid into the ditch on Hwy. 64 near Elton South Road. There were no injuries.
11:00 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his truck and trailer went into the ditch on Hwy. 47, east of Hwy. 45. The trailer was partially on the road. The vehicle had been westbound on Hwy. 47, approaching Hwy. 45 when the driver lost control on the ice and snow covered roads and entered the ditch on the north side of the road. The vehicle had a broken back window and significant damage to the front passenger side.
12:53 PM Officers responded to a report of a car on fire at a residence on Forrest Avenue. When officers arrived, the vehicle fire was out but still smoking. The City of Antigo Fire Department had responded due to the vehicle being close to a residence. A battery charger had been hooked up to the engine and a heater running near it. The engine compartment of the vehicle was severely damaged by the fire.
5:27 PM Officers responded to a 911 call from a male reporting a snowmobile accident about ¾ of a mile west of Hwy. 17. The caller stated to officers that a male subject had flown off of the snowmobile and hit a tree. The injured 58 year old male was complaining of rib and leg pain.
5:39 PM Officers responded to a report of a slid in on Hwy. 64 west of Polar, just east of the S curves.
6:13 PM Officers responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch at Cty. Rd. K and Hwy. 55. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed. The 55 year old female driver was cited for inattentive driving.
Saturday, February 2nd
3:19 PM Officers received a call from a male reporting that he had noticed that day that his storage unit on Hwy. 45 had been broken into and he was missing 6 Arctic tip-ups and an Echo ice auger. The caller told officers that the lock had been clipped.
7:29 PM Officers responded to a report from the Antigo Fire Department of a vehicle in the ditch on Hwy. 64, approximately 10 miles west of Antigo. The vehicle was towed out.
8:28 PM Officers responded to a report of two vehicles in the ditch at Knight Road and Hwy. 45. There were no injuries. The vehicles were towed out.
8:42 PM While at the scene of a different accident, officers reported a roll-over accident at Knight Road and Hwy. 45. The Elcho Fire Department responded. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed.
8:50 PM Officers responded to a report of a vehicle versus utility pole accident on Cty. Rd. F, east of Cty. Rd. AA. There was no one around the vehicle. The pole was still upright and lines were attached. Wisconsin Public Service was notified. The vehicle was towed. The driver was cited for violation of absolute sobriety and was referred for bail jumping.
9:26 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that his vehicle slid into the ditch at Cty. Rd. A and Cty. Rd. O. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed out.
11:00 PM Officers responded to a call from a passerby reporting a vehicle roll-over at Cty. Rd. A, north of Cty. Rd. S. The vehicle was on its roof. The female driver and two children refused medical attention.
Sunday, February 3rd
8:27 AM Officers responded to a report of a one vehicle rollover on Cty. Rd. B, east of Neva. The vehicle was towed.
10:00 PM Officers responded to a report of a truck in the ditch at Valley Vista Road and Hwy. 45 on the west side of the road. The 30 year old male driver was cited for operating without a license.
10:20 PM Officers responded to a 911 call from a female reporting a roll-over accident on Hwy. H. She told officers that 2 people had been inside the vehicle. The male subject was at the caller’s door with a head injury and he told the caller that his girlfriend was ejected and in a field somewhere. She also told officers that the two subjects were intoxicated. When officers arrived, the female subject was at the residence of the reporting person. Officers were told that the female was found lying on the ground, on her back, approximately 10 yards from the vehicle. The male subject admitted to officers that he “had a few” alcoholic beverages. Both subjects had not been wearing seat belts. The female subject was transported to Langlade Hospital by the Antigo Fire Department. The male subject was arrested for intoxicated driving. The female subject was also referred for bail jumping.
Monday, February 4th
12:40 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that her vehicle slid into the ditch on Hwy. 45. There were no injuries and no road blockage. The vehicle was towed out.
5:34 AM Officers responded to a report of 5 vehicles stranded at the bottom of a hill on Cty. Rd. A. One vehicle hit another. There were no injuries. One vehicle needed a tow truck. The rest of the vehicles just needed a salt truck.
5:42 AM Officers responded to a report of a roll-over accident on Hwy. 64, east of Hwy. 52. Antigo Fire Department responded. The vehicle was towed.
7:50 AM Officers responded to a report of 3 vehicles in the ditch on Hwy. 52, east of Polar Road. When arriving on the scene, the squad car also slid into the ditch and struck one of the other vehicles in the rear bumper causing minor damage. County salt trucks and tow trucks arrived and the vehicles were towed out.
8:22 AM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she just slid in the ditch on Cty. Rd. AA and another vehicle then struck her. There were no injuries, but the other vehicle was blocking the roadway.
10:12 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he was side-swiped by a semi at Hwy. 64 and Shady Road. The semi was in the ditch. Officers were told that the accident had occurred around 6:00 AM.
1:11 PM Officers responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in the driveway of a residence on Fairway Drive. The male owner told officers that he had attempted to start his vehicle and it started on fire in the engine compartment. He had then attempted to put it out with some snow.
