Janet Pagel, 76
Janet Pagel, of Antigo, died Friday, February 1, 2019, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. She was 76 years old. She was born on November 28, 1942, in Antigo, a daughter of George and Clara (Fronek) Steber. She married Leonard Pagel on June 4, 1966, at St Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on January 16, 1998.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School.
She received an associates degree from Milwaukee Area Technical College as a dental assistant. She returned to Antigo where she was employed by Dr. Charles Payant, DDS, for several years.
She was a homemaker for many years and helped her husband on the family farm.
She enjoyed reading, canning, completing crossword puzzles, camping and spending time with her family and friends.
She was a volunteer 4-H leader and was a member of St. John Catholic Church.
Survivors include daughter, Susan (Ronald) Whitt, Elton; son, Joel Pagel, Antigo; four sisters, Jeanne Mugavero, Wausau, Joan Waldvogel, Rhinelander, Helen (Eugene) Mason, Appleton, Barb (Tom) Boettcher, Crivitz; two brothers, George (Betty) Steber, Nekoosa, John (Dorothy) Steber, Marathon City; a sister-in-law, Jane (Don) McCleery, Indiana; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Carol (Donald) Zoern, her father and mother-in-law Albert and Theresa Pagel; a brother-in-law, Gordon Waldvogel.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Burial will take place in Antigo Cemetery.
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Thursday, also at the funeral home.
