Heart of the Farm Conference for Farm Women to be Held in Merrill
FOR ANTIGO TIMES
Heart of the Farm-Women in Agriculture workshop is a University of Wisconsin-Madison, Division of Extension program committed to addressing the needs of farm women by providing education on farm business topics, connecting them with agricultural resources and creating support networks.
Extension offices in Lincoln, Langlade, and Taylor Counties are hosting a Heart of the Farm workshop at the Sawmill in Merrill on Saturday, April 27. Topics to be covered include:
“Taking Care of You: Body, Mind, Spirit” taught by Debbie Moellendorf, UW-Madison, Division of Extension, Lincoln County Positive Youth Development and Health and Well Being Educator. “Taking Care of You: Body, Mind, Spirit” is a research-based program that offers practical strategies and experiences to help individuals deal with the stress in their lives. Managing life’s challenges in healthy ways allows participants to take better care of themselves and their overall health.
“Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” taught by Sandy Stuttgen, UW-Madison, Division of Extension, Taylor County Agriculture Educator. “Who Gets Grandma’s Yellow Pie Plate?” will introduce tips for navigating family relationships when transferring personal non-titled property in Wisconsin. Non-titled property may or may not have great financial value, but often has a great deal of sentimental or emotional value. Many people are familiar with planning to transfer their home, land or other titled possessions upon their death. What surprises many is that the transfer of non-titled personal property can create more challenges among family members than the transfer of titled property. Participants will leave this session with a work book to guide their passing on their personal possessions.
There will be also an opportunity to speak with the Sawmill Brewery staff and get a behind the scenes look of the brewery.
Registration is required by April 26. The fee to attend this workshop is $25 that includes snacks, lunch, and materials.
Brochures and registration information is available at https://fyi.extension.wisc.edu/heartofthefarm/files/2019/03/HOF19-NC-Area-3-brochure.pdf or by contacting the Extension offices at 715-539-1072 in Merrill or 715-627-6236 in Antigo. Heart of the Farm is funded and supported by the UW Center for Dairy Profitability, UW-Madison, Division of Extension, AgCountry Farm Credit Services in Medford, and the Lincoln County Farm Bureau.
