Spring Juried Art Show: Artists’ Free Play VII April 27th – May 12th (Sat.’s & Sun.’s) 11am-3pm. WOWSPACE, 114 Vinal St., Wittenberg. Please join us at the WOWSPACE for this fabulous show. Free Play means just that, whatever technique you prefer: photography, painting, mixed media, printmaking, textiles….. The sky is the limit. You will be amazed at the creativity and talent of our artists! The show opens during the Wine, Beer and Cheese Gala on April 26th and then is open to the public weekends through May 12th.
Excel Basics April 29th 10am-Noon Northcentral Technical College, 312 Forrest Ave., Antigo. The instructor led course will provide the basic knowledge necessary to work within a spreadsheet & perform basic editing. Learners will go through an overview of the processes to create a spreadsheet & learn how to enter date, format cells & create simple formulas. The cost is $15 ($8l39 for those 62 or older). Strong Bones with Kathy April 30th & May 2nd (Every Tues. & Thur.) 9-10am Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Classes are offered for an hour, twice a week. Senior Center Trip to Rhinelander April 30th 9:30am meet at Luigi’s, 410 Hwy. 64, Antigo. Plans include a tour of Rhinelander’s new brewery, lunch and shopping if time allows. We will be returning around 4:30pm. The cost is $34.00. Please call 715-627-6632 if you are interested in going.

The aim of the expo is to provide exhibitors and attendees with the opportunity to network, collaborate, learn about & promote area business. There will be free samples and demonstrations. Pitch, Hit & Run Competition April 30th 3:30pm -5pm Saratoga Park, 1235 Nantasket St., Antigo. Boys and girls are divided into four age divisions: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12, 13/14, and have the chance to advance through four levels of competition, including Team Championships at Major League ballparks and the National Finals during the 2019 MLB™ All-Star Week®. The individual Pitching, Hitting and Running Champions, along with the All-Around Champion in each division age group at the Local Competition will be awarded and advance to the Sectional Level of Competition. Become a Backyard Composter April 30th 6-8pm Eau Claire River Room, Resource Center, 837 Clermont Street, Antigo. Backyard composting is an easy way to reduce waste and create a nutrient rich soil additive. Join us for a simple how-to session. Learn how to set up a backyard compost system, what can go into the compost bin, and simple ways to make it work in your home. Attendees will receive a coupon for $5 off a Home Composter at the compost bin sale on May 4. Limited coupons are available to first 36 to register for the program. Our keynote speaker will be Kurt Dillinger, executive director of LIFE International located in Grand Rapids, Michigan. LIFE is a faith-based non-profit that started in 2000. Preschool Story Time May 1st 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Play & Learn May 2nd 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers & children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents & children to do together. The activity will build skills for school readiness & milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages & Stages questionnaires are made available to parents & caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. Oxbow Odyssey May 4th 8am-5pm Wolf River Town Hall, N7393 Blue Goose Drive, White Lake. Oxbow Odyssey is 23-mile gravel, two-track dirt and road ride utilizing the Wolf River State Trail and forest roads in the Nicolet National Forest. This non-competitive ride begins in Langlade, Town of Wolf River, and then travels west on State Hwy 64 to a gravel pedestrian trail (Wolf River State Trail) that heads north along scenic upper Wolf River. The route then exits the Wolf River State Trail in Hollister and goes east into a network of National Forest paved and gravel roads. The ride loops back around south to the Wolf River Town Hall. An after-ride cookout with beverages will be held at the Wolf River Town Hall. Cost: $20 plus processing fee. Old Fashioned Plow Day May 4th 9am-6pm Polar Recreation & Ball Park, N2760 Cty. Rd. S, Antigo. This event features up to 50 working antique tractors, old machinery display, tractor parade at noon and featuring a Sheppard Diesel. There will be raffles, drawings, cross-cut competition and a petting zoo. Free admission. Food and refreshments available on the grounds. This event is sponsored by the Northwood’s Tractor Club. Langlade County Community Ceramics, a non-profit painting group that meets every Monday and Friday from 9am-Noon at Sts. Mary & Hyacinth, Classroom 8, 819 3rd Ave., Antigo. Class cost is $3.00, to cover paint and anyone is welcome. We also take art-related field trips four times a year.
Antigo MOPS (Mothers Of Preschoolers), a chapter of an international group that offers encouragement and support to moms of kids ages 0-5. We have relevant and interesting speakers, fun crafts, yummy food and free childcare while we meet.
