Our monthly donation focus for the month of May is personal care items: shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothpaste, floss, deodorant, feminine hygiene products. Antigo Memorial Day Parade May 27th 8am Meet at the Hudson Street Bridge for a Service of Remembrance for the American service people who died at sea. Floats & walking units will meet at 9am at Eastview Medical & Rehab located at 729 Park Street. The parade will travel west on 5th Avenue to the courthouse to the Vietnam Memorial.

Monday Night Women’s Road Bike Ride May 27th 5:30pm Langlade Hospital, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo. The Women’s ride meets every Monday evening at 5:30pm at the Langlade Hospital parking lot off Hwy F. Everyone is welcome. Once a month they will meet somewhere different in the county. The alternative rides start at 5:45. Please email Mary Jo Filbrandt for directions and the routes for these alternative rides. There will be up to three groups with a 10-12 mile route and a 20-25 mile route. A bike helmet is required. Strong Bones with Kathy May 28th & May 30th (Every Tues. & Thur.) 9-10am Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Classes are offered for an hour, twice a week. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides May 28th 10am-Noon Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides are every Tuesday morning. They meet at the parking lot behind the Antigo Public Library and Dixie Lunch at 10:00 am in the spring and 9:00 am in the summer. They divide into groups going distances of 10 to 25 miles. Preschool Story Time May 29th 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents & children to do together. The activity will build skills for school readiness & milestone achievement. Bill Staines Concert May 31st 7:30-9:30pm The Bula Barn, W11957 Highland Rd., Antigo. Nationally acclaimed folk singer and composer Bill Staines will return to Antigo for a house concert. Like a traveling troubadour, Staines is touring the nation from his home in New Hampshire. Many of the songs he has composed have originated from the places and people he has encountered during his 40-plus years of touring the U. S. and Canada. “Stuff The Squad Event” June 1st, Antigo. Pick and Save in collaboration with the Antigo Police Department, is holding a “Stuff the Squad” event. Members of the Boys and Girls Club will be present to fill the squad car with bags of food purchased and donated from May 22 through June 1 by Pick and Save customers

Antigo City-Wide Garage Sales June 1st 8am-4pm There will be dozens of participants in the city-wide garage sales again! This popular event has something for everyone. Maps of the garage sale locations are available at the Chamber of Commerce office, in the Antigo Times/Shopper & the Antigo Daily Journal office.

Mike Pomasl Memorial Golf Outing June 1st Quig’s Maplewood Golf Course, N9240 Hwy. 55, Pickerel. Golf, music, raffles, contests, and food make this one of the area’s must-do events. A fun 9-hole tournament with plenty for non-golfers, too. Proceeds from the Mike Pomasl Memorial Golf Outing go directly to Pickerel Volunteer Rescue Squad. Funds raised from the golf outing in the past have purchased a 12 lead cardiac monitor and many more items for the Pickerel Rescue Squad. Come one, come all, bring the family and enjoy music, raffles, food, and a great atmosphere of community. Members of the Pickerel Rescue Squad will be on hand during the even talking about the department, services, and cooking and serving the golfers and guests during the event.
