Helen Morrissey, 87
Helen Morrissey, of Antigo, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, at Rosalia Gardens. She was 87 years old. She was born on July 26, 1931, in Antigo, a daughter of John and Mary (Fiala) Matuszewski. She married Edward Morrissey on June 10, 1950, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. He preceded her in death on December 11, 2010.
She attended Mayflower grade school and Antigo High School. She worked on the John Hafner potato farm and at Johnson Coil in Antigo.
Helen was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and its Rosary Society. She volunteered at C.A.R. Thrift Shop and was active in the Langlade County Historical Society for the past 30 years and worked at the Historical Society Museum.
Along with her husband she volunteered for the Hyland Lakes Lions Club and Knights of Columbus.
She enjoyed watching her grandchildren grow and develop into beautiful people, making afghans and comforters for family and friends, working on puzzles and reading. Her greatest joy was playing the piano.
Survivors include two daughters, Cathy (Claude) Swoverland, Saukville, Mary Kay (Greg) Wolf, Antigo; a son, Eugene (Dianne) Morrissey, Antigo; five Grandchildren, Bryan (Jami) Fromholtz, Jason (Katie) Morrissey, Kirsten (Jacob) Skarlupka, Andrea (Nick) Artus, Sara Morrissey; two great-grandchildren Brookelynn and Luke; two sisters, Mary Seis, Antigo, Rosemary (Edward) Wilcenski, Waukesha; two sisters-in-law, Nancy Matuszewski, Antigo, Mary Ann Matuszewski, Milwaukee.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald; a sister, Celia (William) Starr; five brothers, Edward, John, Raymond, Emil, and Joseph Matuszewski; a brother-in-law, Harold Seis.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 31, 2019, at 10:30 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Mathew Simonar officiating. Burial will take place in Queen of Peace Cemetery.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home. The Rosary Society wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
