FOR ANTIGO TIMES

Nationally acclaimed folk singer and song writer Bill Staines will return to Antigo Friday, May 31st for a house concert at The Bula Barn, W11957 Highland Road, Antigo. The concert will start at 7:30 PM.

Like a troubadour, Staines annually tours North America from his home in New Hampshire. Many of his songs have originated from the places and people he has encountered during his 45 plus years touring the United States and Canada.

The noted folk singer/composer has produced twenty-eight albums and seven books. His latest CD, The Third Million Miles, was recently released. Staines book, The Tour: A Life Between The Lines, is an excellent recounting of his road trips throughout the United States and Canada as a troubadour.

Moira Scupien, who arranges Staines’ Antigo appearances each year, says that he is a favorite with local persons who enjoy his music and performances. “He paints pictures of real people through storytelling and music”, she added. For Staines, that is what folk music is all about—music rich in the human experience and spirit.

A cover charge of $15 per person will be collected at the door. An array of Steines’ albums and books will be available for sale at the concert.

The Antigo Community Theatre is sponsoring the concert. Persons wanting more information can call Scupien at 715-350-1683 or E-mail [email protected]
