Sharon Menting, 69
Sharon Menting, of Antigo, died Friday, May 17, 2019, at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. She was 69 years old. She was born on March 20, 1950, in Antigo, a daughter of the late Woodrow and Harriet (Rosio) Maddix.
Sharon was a graduate of White Lake High School.
She married John Szitta and they had three children. The couple later divorced. He preceded her in death. She later married Lester Menting. The couple later divorced and he survives.
Sharon worked as a CNA at Eastview Medical and Rehabilitation Center. Though she retired after 20+ years, she never retired from caregiving. She continued to care for those around her through babysitting, giving rides to those in need and caring for her own mother, Harriet until her death in 2017. With every stitch of every quilt and blanket she made and every sweet jam and homemade apple pie filling she gave to those she loved, Sharon cared.
Reading, completing jigsaw puzzles and circling words in word-searches were activities Sharon enjoyed until her stroke in 2017. No longer able to read, she spent time watching Chuck Norris films and police dramas on television. Several calls a week were made to her son and sister to “Fix her TV”. Always looking for a good deal, Sharon was an avid garage saler.
Whether strolling through the woods with her grandkids and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews or sitting in the boat with her brother, Sharon cherished being with her family and outdoors. She spent countless weekends relaxing by campfires, roasting hotdogs and drinking Diet Mountain Dew.
Survivors include three sons, Mark (Jessica) Szitta of Rothschild, Justin Szitta of Antigo and Corey Szitta of Odessa, TX; six grandchildren, Hunter, Mason, Asher, Mercedes, Ellie and Judah; two sisters, Wendy (Ernie) DeClark of White Lake and Pat (Sam) Zaverousky of Antigo; two brothers, Rob (Theresa) Maddix of Custer, SD and James Maddix of Tomah; and two sister-in-laws, Carol Maddix of Bryant and Diane Maddix of Shawano.
