Therese A Brokaw, 90

Therese A. Brokaw, of Antigo, died Monday, April 29, 2019, at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. She was 90 years old. She was born on December 10, 1928, in LaCrosse, a daughter of Donald and Theresia (Schnurrer) Mahoney. She married Stuart on March 26, 1951, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in LaCrosse. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2004.
She graduated from Aquinas High School in LaCrosse with the class of 1946 and went on to receive a bachelor degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse in 1950.
She taught at a grade school in Racine for a year before moving to Antigo where she taught at the Fifth Ward school for 3 years.
Mrs. Brokaw taught at St. Hyacinth parochial school for five years and served as acting pricipal for four years. She taught English in the upper grades at St. John Catholic School in Antigo for 15 years. She retired from teaching in 1995 and then served several years on the St. John Board of Education.
She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, the Antigo Women’s Club and Fine Arts Department, the Catholic Women’s Club of Antigo, and volunteered at Langlade Hospital.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting and reading.
Survivors include two daughters, Margaret Brokaw Antigo, Ellen Brokaw, Antigo; son, Thomas (Michelle) Brokaw, Madison; two grandchildren Alyssa Brokaw and husband Jacob Beck, and Rebecca Brokaw.
She was preceded in death by her son, James (Christine) Brokaw, Spouse, Stuart Brokaw, Jr..
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.
Visitation will be at St. John in Hoffmann Hall from 9:30 a.m. Monday until the time of services.
