FOR ANTIGO TIMES

Ten Antigo Grapplers took part in the 2019 Badger State Games  wrestling tournament.  Ranging in age from 6 to 36 the team brought home three golds two silvers and three bronze on the day.
Leading the team was Jason Hohensee competing in the Masters Division heavyweight bracket. Hohensee made it look easy by using his speed to defeat all three of his larger opponents by pinfall.
Taking the Title in the 149lbs 5th-6th grade bracket. Winning his first match by pinfall while using his strength to turn  early takedowns into a 14-4 Major Decision victory in the Championship match.
The youngest Champion  was Logan Desjarlais who won by pinfall to start his day and followed that up with a win by decision to bring home the gold.
Logan Edwards followed an early loss by close decision with a pinfall victory to propel himself to the second spot on the podium in the highschool 145 lbs bracket.
Due to lack of wrestlers in his age and weight bracket Robby Hagerty bumped up to the highschool 158lbs bracket.  Facing two experienced varsity wrestlers he didn’t look out of place losing his first match by decision before pinning his second opponent to earn his silver medal.
Taking home bronze medals were Gideon Sass, Colton Livermore and Scotty Hagerty.
Also representing Antigo were Danny Livermore and Keagan Desjarlais.
All the athletes are hoping to add to their hardware collections in the next year.
