William Miltenberger, 82

William “Bill” Miltenberger, of Mattoon, died Friday, May 24, 2019, at Rosalia Gardens under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. He was 82 years old. He was born on January 18, 1937, in Mason City, Iowa a son of William and Blanche (Crapser) Miltenberger. He married Karen Dewey on April 19, 1958, at Iowa City, Iowa. She survives.

He graduated from Mason City High School and attended the University of Iowa where he earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1960.

He served in the United States Army on active duty for 6 months followed by 12 years in the Army Reserves.

He worked in the engineering field for 23 years retiring from Louis Allis Company in Milwaukee. He retired to Mattoon where he loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, camping and woodworking. He taught wood carving at Bear Paw at Langlade and enjoyed Music in the Park while sitting in a chair carving.

Survivors including his wife are three daughters, Patricia Menick (Richard Grencer), Waukesha, Janet (Mike) Weijola, Caro, Michigan, Kathy (Scott) Sienkiewicz, Bowie, Maryland; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Miltenberger, Detroit, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Jessica (Chuck) Schlaud, Emily (Kirk) Kunnen, Adam (Nicole) Johnson, Christopher (Stacey) Mealy, Nathan Menick, Abby (Cory) Husher, Kevin (Alexandra) Mealy, Alysse (Jared) McVey, Reed (Lauren) Johnson, Brianne (Bob) Shivers; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dan Miltenberger, father and mother in law, Bennet and Ruth Dewey.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at Bradley Funeral Home. Antigo Veterans will conduct military honors following the service.

Visitation will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday until the time of his celebration at the funeral home. Flannel shirts and baseball caps are welcome.

Memorials may be directed in Bill’s name to the Gerald and Dorothy Volm Cancer Center 112 E. Fifth Ave, Antigo, WI 54409
