Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 7/29/19
ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS
Tuesday, July 16th
Officers responded to a report of an accident at a business on Neva Road. A male driver with a female passenger on a motorcycle had tipped over at the south entrance of the business. Both subjects had left before the officer’s arrival.
Officers responded to a call from an elderly couple from the Chicago area who were lost and needed assistance. The caller told officers that they had left Hayward the night before and gotten turned around several times. They claimed to have been driving around all night. Dispatch got the couple turned around on Hwy. 64 to meet with an officer. Once in the city limits, the male driver refused to pull over despite several requests from dispatch and his wife. He finally pulled over at a business on Hwy. 45. The male subject did not want to listen to the officer’s directions, but after they were written down, he accepted them. Officers told the couple to stop, get some food and some rest before attempting to travel back to Chicago.
Officers responded to a report of an accident on Hwy. 64. A male subject had backed into a parked car.
Officers responded to a report of a possible intoxicated pedestrian. The subject was described as stumbling around and walking in the middle of the road. The subject was wearing jeans and a dark sweatshirt.
Thursday, July 18th
Officers stopped a vehicle at Morse Street and 5th Avenue. Officers took the driver to Langlade Hospital for a blood draw and then into custody.
Officers arrested a subject on a Department of Corrections warrant at the Probation and Parole office.
Officers responded to a report of an accident on Neva Road. The caller told officers that a Jeep struck a smaller child on a bicycle at Hwy. 64 and Hwy. 45. The bicyclist did not tip over or crash and was possibly still in the parking lot of an area business. The caller also gave officers the license plate number of the striking vehicle. Officers located the male child. He had an injury to his leg and was limping.
Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that her garage on Charlotte Street had been broken into. She told officers that the garage had by fine around 5pm the day before. Officers found that someone had popped rivets out of the emergency release on the outside of the garage. The female told officers that there were cameras on the property, but they did not face the garage.
Officers responded to an anonymous report that a subject with a Langlade County Sheriff’s Office warrant was at a house on Hwy. 64. Officers received consent to search the property. Officers arrested the subject on the outstanding warrant, for possession of marijuana, 3rd offense, possession of drug paraphernalia and possible possession of meth. They were transported to Corrections.
Officers responded to a report of power being out. The caller told officers that it sounded like something blew, possibly around the 7th Avenue and Edison Street area. The location was 7th Avenue and Clermont Street. A tree had fallen on some power lines. WPS was contacted.
Friday, July 19th
Officers came upon a line down in the road at 3rd Avenue and Elm Street.
Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that someone backed into the driver’s side door of her vehicle on Neva Road. Both vehicles were at the scene.
Officers responded to a call from a male reporting an accident on Superior Street. The caller told officers that he was turning northbound from 5th Avenue onto Superior Street and did not see the car in front of him as he was looking at a different car, and rear-ended the other subject’s vehicle.
Officers responded to a report of a tree down on some power lines at Hwy. 64 and 5th Avenue.
Officers responded to a report of a tree down blocking the road on 8th Avenue.
Officers responded to a report that North Avenue was blocked by downed trees.
Officers responded to a report that lightning may have struck a transformer at 10th Avenue and Virginia Street.
Officers received a report that a tree was on a power line on 2nd Avenue.
Saturday, July 20th
Officers received a report of a power line down on Wilson Street.
Officers received a report of a power line down at 7th Avenue and Clermont Street.
Officers received a report of a power line and a tree down on 500 block of Virginia Street.
Officers received a report of trees all over the roadway with wire at 2nd Avenue and Watson Street.
Officers received a report of a power line and a tree down on Gruber Street.
Officers received a report of a power line down at 1st Avenue and Fulton Street.
Officers received a report of a power line down in a driveway on Clermont Street.
Officers received a report of a power line down on 8th Avenue.
Officers received a report of a power line down on Superior Street.
Officers received a report of a pole down on 1st Avenue.
Officers received a report of a tree that fell on a wire and was hanging low on 3rd Avenue.
Officers received a report of a tree on a power line on 7th Avenue.
Sunday, July 21st
Officers responded to a report of a fight in progress at an address on Edison Street.
Monday, July 22nd
Officers responded to a report of a two vehicle accident on Superior Street. One vehicle was behind the other vehicle at the stop lights at Superior Street and 5th Avenue. The second vehicle bumped into the back of the first vehicle, leaving an imprint of the license plate screws in the bumper of the first vehicle.

Thursday, July 18th
Officers responded to call reporting that a vehicle that was northbound on Hwy. 45 towards Elcho was speeding and doing burnouts in downtown Elcho. When the caller confronted the male driver, he put his hand in his pocket and made gestures that were threatening, like he possibly had a gun. He then left eastbound on Cty. Rd. K at a high rate of speed. The male driver was described as thin, with gray bushy hair, wearing a multi-colored leather jacket and a baseball cap. Officers were unable to locate the subject.
Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he had made a previous complaint that evening, but officers pulled over the wrong vehicle. He was told to go home and he did. The caller told officers that an intoxicated male subject then followed him in a black pickup, driving erratically and almost hitting his vehicle. The male subject then proceeded to park his vehicle at the intersection of Cty. Rd. Y and Cty. Rd. HH and began running towards the caller’s vehicle. He then laid down in the middle of the road and began throwing rocks. The male subject was cited for open intoxicants.
Officers responded to a report of an eight inch diameter tree down across Byers Rd, west of Cty. Rd. B. The Highway Department was notified.
Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that a female subject, who he has a temporary restraining order against and who he had recently evicted, was parked in his driveway in her silver Tracker. The caller told officers that she then got out of the vehicle and walked up to the house. She was making kissing gestures at him. He believes that she is schizophrenic. Officers took the female subject into custody.
Officers responded to a call from a subject reporting an accident at Enterprise Lake Road and Moccasin Lake Road. The caller told officers that a truck was flipped over. It was smoking. The vehicle was described as an 80’s to 90’s dark blue Dodge with a topper. The caller stated that the truck had not been there 10 minutes prior, so he believed the accident had just happened. They told officers who they believed owned the vehicle and that they had fled on foot. There were no license plates on the vehicle. Officers found the driver and conducted standard field sobriety tests. The driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated and taken to Corrections. The vehicle was towed.
Friday, July 19th
Officers received a report of power line across the road at Little Chicago Road and Cty. Rd. V.
Officers responded to a report that Muellers Lake Road was blocked by a tree.
Officers responded to a report of a tree on a wire that was smoldering on Roberts Road. Wolf River Fire Department was notified.
Officers responded to a request for assistance at Cty. Rd. K and Antigo Street. Officers blocked the road while a citizen removed a tree.
Officers responded to a request for assistance at Snag Road and Bogus Road because of downed trees and power lines. 10 people were trapped. WPS was notified.
Officers responded to an accident at Bogus Road and Cty. Rd. B. A WPS truck had missed the intersection and went off the roadway. WPS believed that approximately 20 gallons of hydraulic fluid probably leaked out of the boom. They believed that the diesel tanks were intact and not leaking. The truck was towed out. The town of Upham chairman was notified of damage to Bogus Road from the heavy wreckers.
Officers responded to a report of a tree, pole and wire down on Bear Lake Road about one mile from Cty. Rd. HH. The town chairman was notified.
Officers received a report of trees on a line on Cty. Rd. F. WPS was notified.
Officers received a call from a female reporting some downed wires at Hwy. 55 N and N. Rolling Stone Lake Road. She requested that someone marked the downed wires. The town of Ainsworth was notified.
Officers responded to a report of a pole that was about to come down because trees were pushing on it on Cty. Rd. A. Multiple trees were blocking northbound traffic.
Officers received a report of a wire down on Pratt Road. WPS was notified.
Saturday, July 20th
Officers received a report of a wire down on Enterprise Lake Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a wire down on Isle of Pines Drive. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a tree on the power line wire at Cty. Rd. T and Hwy. 45. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report a wire down on Moccasin Lake Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of trees on the power line wire at Big Twin Lake Lane and Cty. Rd. A. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of wires down at Sawyer Lake Road and Kielcheski Road. WPS was notified.
Officers responded to a report that the west bound lane of Cty. Rd. T was blocked between Hwy. 45 and Cty. Rd. U and that there were trees on the power line wires.
Officers received a report of lines down on Hwy. 55. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of wires down on Cty. Rd A. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of lines down on W. Point Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a wire down on N. Rolling Stone Lake Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a wire down on Hollister Lake Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of wires down on Wolf Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a wire down in the road on Cty. Rd. DD. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of lines down and trees on lines on Turtle Lake Road. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a wire down on Debaufer Lane. WPS was notified.
Officers received a report of a busted line and hanging wires on Hwy. 52. WPS was notified.
Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that an eagle was by a deer carcass on Hwy. 55 and then flew up in front of her vehicle and broke her passenger side headlight. The eagle was described as being a young eagle, as its head was not fully white. Officers marked the road with an orange arrow for the Raptor Center to locate the eagle.
