Warrant of the Week:

The Antigo Police Department holds a valid warrant for Erikka N. Vancos (d.o.b. 08.22.93).  The warrant is for failing to pay a fine for Theft of Library Materials.  Those with information on her whereabouts are urged to call the Antigo Police Department at (715) 627-6411 or Langlade County Crimestoppers at 715-627-NAIL (6245). Callers may remain anonymous. You can also view a list of all warrants at our website, www.antigo-city.org. With your cooperation we can continue to protect and serve the City of Antigo.

Telephone Scams:

Several times a year the Antigo Police Department receives multiple complaints of telephone scams. The main purpose of a scammer is to cheat people out of money, and they do this over the phone, e-mail, and the sometimes the postal service. The scammer will normally appear and sound very genuine and kind and then begin to pressure you into giving your personal information to them such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, or addresses and birthdays. If you receive a call that sounds like it may be a scam, or a phone call from someone who is asking you for money for something that you never intended on purchasing, it is most likely a scam. You may want to listen for certain clues that should tell you that you are being scammed such as:

  • You are receiving lottery winnings from a foreign country
  • You have been “Specially selected”
  • You have won valuable prizes (Hotel stays, flights, cruises etc.)
  • You need to send a deposit or down payment
  • You need to “wire transfer” a certain amount of funds

If you are told any of these, simply hang up the phone before accidentally giving out any information.
