Our monthly donation focus for the month of July will be Beverages: fruit and vegetable juices (low salt and sugar) and tea. The following is a testimonial from an individual helped by the Antigo Community Food Pantry this year: “My dental insurance doesn’t cover a crown I need on a tooth and another tooth just chipped in front. That one is only covered if it’s a filled tooth. It’s not, so I must save food money to pay for my teeth.”

Camp Invention July 15th-19th 9am-3:30pm All Saints Catholic School, 419 Sixth Avenue, Antigo. Camp Invention – Antigo is for kids entering K-6th grade in Fall 2019. Back for its 6th year, Camp Invention is hosted at All Saints Catholic School but is a national science and technology curriculum, and not religious education. Children are presented with fun, hands-on challenges that encourage creative problem solving, teamwork, entrepreneurship, and innovation. Camp Invention is led by experienced local teachers and new curriculum is introduced each year, inspired by the Inductees of the National Inventors Hall of Fame! Monday Night Women’s Road Bike Ride July 15th 5:30pm Langlade Hospital, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo. The Women’s ride meets every Monday evening at 5:30pm at the Langlade Hospital parking lot off Hwy F. Everyone is welcome. Once a month they will meet somewhere different in the county. The alternative rides start at 5:45. Please email Mary Jo Filbrandt for directions and the routes for these alternative rides. There will be up to three groups with a 10-12 mile route and a 20-25 mile route. A bike helmet is required. Monday Night Run/Walk with Jack Lake Silent Sports Association July 15th 5:30-8:30pm Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail, N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook. Start your week out on the trail! Join the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association on Mondays at 5:30 pm for a run/walk on the single track trails. They will meet at the trailhead located to the right when entering Veterans Memorial Park. You can then run, hike, or skip your own distance and pace and meet back when you are finished. Strong Bones with Kathy July 16th & July 18th (Every Tues. & Thur.) 9-10am Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Classes are offered for an hour, twice a week. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides July 16th 9am Peaceful Valley Warming House, 420 Field St., Antigo. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides are every Tuesday morning. Kids from Wisconsin July 16th Two shows: 2pm & 7pm Volm Theater – Antigo High School, 1900 10th Ave., Antigo. The Kids from Wisconsin features students from all over the state in a music & dance performance. Tickets are $12 in advance & $14 at the door. Elk’s Club Soccer Shoot-Out July 16th 5:30pm Saratoga Park, 1235 Nantasket St., Antigo. For boys and girls, age 5 to 13. You do not need to be registered for the Co-ed Youth Soccer Program to participate. All children within the specified age groups are welcome to participate. Trophies are awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each age division. Children compete in four age brackets. They will have a chance to test their soccer skills by shooting at goals at different distances and skill levels. There is one contest for ages 5-7, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13. Preschool Story Time July 17th 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.
