Langlade County Tavern League Golf Outing August 5th 12:30pm Bass Lake Country Club, W10650 Bass Lake Road, Deerbrook. This is a 4 person scramble. Deadline for cart is August 1st. Rain or Shine. Monday Night Women’s Road Bike Ride August 12th 5:30pm Langlade Hospital, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo. The Women’s ride meets every Monday evening at 5:30pm at the Langlade Hospital parking lot off Hwy F. Everyone is welcome. Once a month they will meet somewhere different in the county. The alternative rides start at 5:45. Please email Mary Jo Filbrandt for directions and the routes for these alternative rides. Monday Night Run/Walk with Jack Lake Silent Sports Association August 12th 5:30-8:30pm Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail, N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook. Start your week out on the trail! Join the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association on Mondays at 5:30 pm for a run/walk on the single track trails. They will meet at the trailhead located to the right when entering Veterans Memorial Park. You can then run, hike, or skip your own distance and pace and meet back when you are finished. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides August 13th 9am Peaceful Valley Warming House, 420 Field St., Antigo. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides are every Tuesday morning. Preschool Story Time August 14th 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

American Cancer Society Relay for Life Event August 16th 3pm-Midnight Peaceful Valley Park & Festival Grounds, 420 Field Street, Antigo. American Cancer Society fundraiser & celebration of survivors/memorial to those we have lost to cancer. The opening ceremony begins at 5:30pm at Peaceful Valley Park & Festival Grounds bringing everyone together for a high-energy event kickoff that celebrates the lives of those who have battled cancer & reminds us all that while we are winning this battle, fighting cancer is a year-round battle. Antigo Visual Arts Benefit Art Auction August 16th 5pm North Star Banquet Hall, 400 Prosser Place, Antigo. The auction features nationally known local artists Frank Vavruska and George Falkenhagen as well as donated art from AVA’s award-winning artists. Vavruska art includes Mayan rubbings, sewerrealism, and antiquities from AVA’s Vavruska collection. There will also be drawings and silent auctions. Pre-Wolfie Clinic – Mountain Bike & Paddling Clinics August 17th 9am-4:30pm & August 18th 8am-4:30pm Gardner Dam Scout Camp, N2940 Gardner Dam Road, White Lake. 2nd annual Pre-Wolfie Clinic! Learn from those who have paddled the river & ridden the trails. The schedule for the Mountain Bike Clinic is as follows: 9am-noon Mountain Bike Skills, Noon-12:30pm Lunch Provided, 12:30PM-1pm Shuttle to Wolfman MTB Trail at Van Alstine Rd., 1-4:30pm Ride the Wolfman Trail from Van Alstine Rd. to Finish at Scout Camp. Work on the following skills: 1. Riding Rock Gardens, 2. Riding Switchbacks, 3. Climbing. 5:30pm Group Gathering & Dinner at Crab & Jacks. During Sunday’s Paddling Clinic, try out various canoes, kayaks & sit on top kayaks. Brief discussion on boat proper boat design & outfitting for white water paddling. The skills portion of the river will start in the Scout Camp pond with the instruction of certified whitewater instructors who will teach necessary skills for the river. The schedule for Sunday is as follows: 8-9am Equipment show & tell & gear up, 9am-Noon On Water Instruction, Noon-1pm Lunch Provided & Chalk Talk, 1-1:30pm Load Equipment & Shuttle to Wolf River, 1:30-4:30pm Down River paddling, Wolfman Start to Transition area at DNR Landing in Langlade. 1. Benefit for Kloehn Family August 17th 3-7pm Timber Haven Bar & Grill, W6962 Hwy. 64, Polar. Todd was recently diagnosed with glioblastoma, an extremely aggressive cancer. He has already gone through one brain surgery and has started both chemo & radiation treatments. Please join his family & friends in support of this amazing family. Harvest For Our Youth – Farm to Table Dinner August 17th 4:30pm Grandview Orchard, W8086 Cty. Rd., F, Antigo. This event is benefiting the Boys & Girls Club of Langlade County. Locally sourced food will be served in a beautiful farm setting featuring local chef’s Tanya Seldon and Amber Frick. The event starts at 4:30pm with a walking tour of Grandview Orchard. Happy Hour starts at 5:30pm with hors d’oeuvres and specialty drinks. The first course will be served at 6:30pm. You can choose a main course of vegetarian or steak.
