LOCAL BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA COUNCIL WELCOMES NEW SCOUT EXECUTIVE

Central Wisconsin, [Date]– Samoset Council, Boy Scouts of America headquartered in Weston, Wisconsin is pleased to announce the selection of John Overland as their new Scout Executive effective August 1, 2019.
John serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the council and gives leadership to the operations and administration of the organization, subject to the authority and direction of the executive board. He serves as the secretary for the council, the executive board, and its executive committee. He is responsible for strategic planning, fiscal stability, membership growth, program quality, and for volunteer and community relationships for the Scouting program within the communities served by Samoset Council.
He is an Eagle Scout with 23-years of experience as a professional Scouter who began his career in Saint Paul, MN with Indianhead Council, BSA and then moved on to serve with Northern Star Council, BSA in Fort Snelling, MN. John and his wife, Katie, have three adult Eagle Scout sons.
John is excited to become part of the North Central Wisconsin area as he joins in partnership with the volunteers and staff of the Samoset Council to deliver quality Scouting experiences to the young people of the communities they serve.
