Antigo Area Community Food Pantry September 25th11am-1pm (Wednesdays) & September 27th 1pm-3pm (Fridays), 2120 Progress Blvd., Antigo (715) 623-1103. Our monthly donation focus for month of September will be canned protein: chicken, tuna, turkey & ham. The following is a testimonial from an individual helped by the Antigo Community Food Pantry this year: “Due to an abusive situation, I left my home and moved to Antigo with only the clothes on my back.  The pantry was a great support not only for food, but encouragement and access to other resources.”

The Art of Parenting September 11th-October 30th (Weds.) 6:30-8pm Antigo High School, Media Tech Rm., 1900 10th Ave., Antigo. The FamilyLife Local Team of Wisconsin invites you to join them for a FREE 8-week parenting class. This class explores the challenges & joys that come with raising children. The study will focus on the importance of having a unique plan for each child’s future & developing a community of support to help achieve those goals. Aspirus Diabetes Weight Management Program September 17th-January 21st (Tuesdays) 5-6pm (then monthly meetings thru 8/2020) Aspirus Langlade Hospital Conference Rm., 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo.  Learn about healthier eating & exercise habits to improve your health and blood sugar content. This program teaches you how to develop long-term improvements in your nutrition & physical activity habits. There are 16 core sessions over 4 months, followed by 8 post core session over 8 months. The cost of the program is $75 for the entire year. All participants will be required to have had some diabetes education prior to participating in the weight management program. Walls of Wittenberg “Fall into Art” Show September 21-October 6 (Sat. & Sun.) 11am-3pm WOWSPACE, 114 Vinal St., Wittenberg. On October 5th & 6th, the hours will be 10am-5pm for the Miles of Art weekend. It will be featuring 6 artists, exhibiting their artistic talents in a variety of mediums. Monday Night Run/Walk with Jack Lake Silent Sports Association September 23rd 5:30-8:30pm Jack Lake Mountain Bike Trail, N8375 Park Road, Deerbrook. Start your week out on the trail! Join the Jack Lake Silent Sports Association on Mondays at 5:30 pm for a run/walk on the single track trails. They will meet at the trailhead located to the right when entering Veterans Memorial Park.  You can then run, hike, or skip your own distance and pace and meet back when you are finished. Run/walk will happen rain or shine! Feel free to stay and socialize after. The bikers have Thursday night rides if that’s more your style! For more information, please call 715-216-5662.

Strong Bones Exercise September 24th & September 26th (Every Tues. & Thur.) 9-10am Langlade County Senior Center, 1225 Langlade Rd., Antigo. Strong Bones is an ongoing strength training program designed to help adults become or stay fit, strong & healthy. Individuals will improve muscle strength, bone density, self-confidence, sleep and vitality. Also, participants have shown a decreased risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, depression & obesity. Classes are offered for an hour, twice a week.  Pre-register by calling the Aging and Disability Resource Center at 715-627-6232.

Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides September 24th 9am Peaceful Valley Warming House, 420 Field St.,  Antigo. Tuesday Morning “Geezer” Bike Rides are every Tuesday morning. They divide into groups going distances of 10 to 25 miles. Rides will last 1-2 hours. Contact Nick Salm at [email protected] for more information or to be put on his email list.

Immunization Clinic September 25th 9am-4pm Langlade County Health Department, 1225 Langlade Road, Antigo. The immunization clinic is available to provide childhood immunizations & adult vaccinations. The vaccinations are FREE to children 2 months – 18 years of age if you have Medical Assistance or no insurance. Adult vaccinations are available some with a minimal fee or FREE if you have MC or MA. Preschool Story Time September 25th 10:30-11:30am Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. Join us for story time at the Antigo Public Library! This is a great way for kids who haven’t started school yet to meet & socialize with peers. Every week we’ll read 2 or 3 books together as well as doing some songs & movement. We also do a simple craft or coloring page that helps kids develop creativity & motor skills, & occasionally (attendance permitting) other activities such as parachute play. This event is geared towards preschoolers, but older or younger kids are welcome to attend as well.

Elcho United Church of Christ Men’s Club Dinner September 25th 4-7pm The Jack Lamar Memorial/Elcho Community Pavilion, N11283 Dorr Street, Elcho, “Beef Tenderloin Steak”, potatoes au gratin, green beans, salad bar, dessert and coffee! One Way (grades K-2) & Cross Trainers (grades 3-6) Kid’s Clubs September 18th 6:30pm in the Quest Center, Antigo Community Church, 723 Deleglise St., Antigo. These groups meet every Wednesday from 6:30 to 8pm. There will be games, songs, Bible stories and small group time. All are welcome! Play & Learn September 26th 9:30-11am N4013 Hwy. 45, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers & children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents & children to do together.  The activity will build skills for school readiness & milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages & Stages questionnaires are made available to parents & caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. Fall Healthy Ways Walk September 26th 4-6pm 2nd Avenue Ball Park, Antigo.  Come one, come all and let’s celebrate Fall. The walk starts at the 2nd Avenue Ball Park. Answer trivia on the walkway to Peaceful Valley Park and back. There will also be snacks, prizes & fun!

 Antigo Farmer’s Market September 28th 8am-Noon Heinzen Pavilion, 603 6th Avenue, Antigo. All produce is locally grown by the vendor who sells them. Shopping at the Antigo Farmer’s Market is a great way to get local, in season food, and make connections with the people that grew it.

“Taste of Tigerton” Apple Fest September 28th 10am-4:30pm Tigerton Community Park, 236 Pine St., Tigerton. Featuring local apple orchards, an apple pie contest, tons of vendors & food. There will also be kid’s bouncers with all day wrist bands for $5. The will by music by Brayden from 10:30am-12:30pm and The II Edition form 1-4pm. For more information, please call 715-535-2110.

Harvest Hoedown September 28th Noon-6pm The Woodpecker Bar & Grill, 6776 Hwy. K, Rhinelander. This event features family activities, live music, hay rides, bake sale, country store, food, raffles, a bounce house & more. Free admission. AFSP Cornhole Tournament September 28th 12:30-5pm Heartbreakers, 950 Forrest Ave., Antigo. This cornhole tournament will help raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention(AFSP). Entry fee is $25 per team (2 people) with a 30 team maximum. Kids can play, too! Payback will be 3/4 of the entry fee raised with 1/4 of it going to AFSP. Registration begins at 12:30 with the tournament starting at 1:15pm. You can register ahead of day if you want. There will also be a grid raffle for a Badger/Packer/Brewer cornhole board set and a 50/50 raffle and other raffle items with the proceeds going to AFSP. Harvest Dinner September 28th after 4pm mass. Holy Family Catholic Church, W10524 Cole St., Elcho. Join us for our Harvest Dinner. The cost is a free will offering. All are welcome!

St. Wenceslaus Parish Fall Festival September 29th 10:30am mass. St. Wenceslaus Parish, N5340 Church Rd., Deerbrook. Mass will be at 10:30am featuring contemporary music. Food will be served at 11am featuring our famous chicken booyah, barbeque & homemade pies. There will also be kid’s games & activities, craft items, home grown produce, bake sale, silent auction and raffles.

A Budget & Financial Reporting Workshop September 30th 6-9pm Northcentral Technical College, Rm. WT 108A, 312 Forrest Ave., Antigo. This is a free workshop for area businesses.  Participants will learn that everyday businesses deal with budgets & financial reports in some form or fashion.  At a minimum, business managers review budget numbers & run financial reports for decision making & reporting to shareholders & Federal regulators once a month. The goal of this workshop is to give the participant a basic understanding of budgets & financial reports so they can hold relevant discussions & render decisions based on financial data. All Recovery Group Meeting September 29th (Sundays) 7pm Langlade Hospital, 112 E. 5th Ave., Antigo.  As a result of completing the Recovery Coach Training, Dr. David MacIntyre & Benjamin Dahms have started a new recovery group meeting at Langlade Hospital. It is open to any individual recovering from any addiction, their family, and friends. This is not a 12 step based group and has intentions of broadening our outreach in the community and relieve some of the stigma surrounding addiction. Please share with others!

Antigo MOPS/MOMSnext , a chapter of an international group that offers encouragement and support to moms of children 0-18. We have relevant and interesting speakers, fun crafts, yummy food and free childcare while we meet. The Hope Life Center Mobile Unit will be parked in the Goodwill parking lot off Hwy 64 in Antigo every Monday from 10:00am until 5:00pm. All services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
