Doris M. Schmidt, 95, of Wittenberg, died on Friday, September 20, 2019 at the Homme Home of Wittenberg under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services. Doris was born on August 29, 1924 in Birnamwood, and was the oldest child of ten to the late Fred and Erma (Kufahl) Schmidt.
Doris was graduated on August 30, 1946 from the Milwaukee School of Nursing. After graduation, Doris worked at Milwaukee Hospital, in the surgery department, until her retirement.
Survivors include her siblings, Murl Hahs of Wittenberg, Milton (Suzanne) Schmidt and Earl (Judy) Schmidt of Birnamwood, Carol Kocina of Independence, MN and Rachel Kluck of Tomahawk; a sister-in-law, Judith Schmidt of Birnamwood and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Donald, David, Roy, Erma Jean, and Verna Viegut.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at St. John Lutheran Church, Birnamwood. Rev. Bil Sutlief will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 9am until the time of service at the church.
