Fay Andrea (Young) Curran, age 72, of Elcho died Friday, September 13, 2019 at Aspirus Langlade Hospital. Having battled lymphoma and attaining remission, Fay succumbed to complications due to chemotherapy.
Fay was born on November 12, 1946 to the late Ralph Young and Anna (Crum) Young Paige in Antigo.
She was a graduate of Antigo High School, teacher’s college in Antigo, and received an associate degree in childcare from Nicolet Technical College.
On June 10, 1967, she was united in marriage to Dean Richard Curran. He preceded her in death on October 27, 2007.
She was a teacher in Clintonville for 1 year, substitute taught and then worked in childcare in Rhinelander and Antigo.
Fay was a member of Elcho United Church of Christ, where she served as a deaconess and was a member their Women’s Fellowship.
Fay was a kind and social person, making friends everywhere she went. She exercised several times a week at The Center for Health and Performance, where she made many friends. She was a member of the Carbonne and the American Legion Auxiliary Elcho Post. She enjoyed crafting, shopping, puzzles and Scrabble, reading, fishing and fantasy football with her family. She was a Wisconsin sports fanatic, following the Brewers, Packers, Badgers, and Bucks. She had a green thumb and was an animal lover.
Survivors include a daughter; Renee Curran of Appleton, 3 sons; Perry (Tiffanie Mikolajczak) Curran of Greenville, Patrick (Mary) Curran of Shawano, Mark (Davia) Curran of St. Paul, MN, 4 grandchildren; Owen, Isaac, Aubrielle and Charlie, a nephew Kevin Parks of San Francisco, CA, and a brother-in-law Peter (Terri) Curran of Antigo.
In addition to her husband and parents, Fay was preceded in death by a sister Phyllis Parks, a brother Lyman Young, and a niece Laura Parks.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 19 at 11:00 AM at Elcho United Church of Christ. Visitation will be at the church prior to the service from 9:00 AM until the service. Reverend Paul Veldman will officiate. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
