Wiley E. Petroskey, 78
Wiley E. Petroskey, of the town of Antigo, died Saturday, October 19, 2019, at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 78 years old. He was born on October 1, 1941, at home in the town of Antigo, a son of Louis and Rose (Schmidt) Petroskey. He married Penelope “Penny” Tatro on December 28, 1963, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. She survives.
He attended Fairview grade school was a graduate of Antigo High School with the class of 1960 and attended North Central Technical College for agricultural and fire fighting classes.
As a young man he helped his parents on the family dairy farm then took over the farm in 1966. He operated the farm until retirement in 2005.
Wiley served on the town of Antigo Volunteer Fire Department from its inception in 1976 until 1997. He was a member of the Crestwood Snowmobile club, the Old Mill softball team, and shot pool at the VFW in Antigo.
His hobbies included deer hunting, fishing, card playing, and golfing.
Survivors including his wife are two daughters, Paula (James) Gallenberg of Antigo, Jodi (Steven) Johnson of Weston; two sons, Todd (Mary) Petroskey of Antigo, Jon (Sarah) Petroskey of Antigo; nine grandchildren James Petroskey, Michael (Amber) Petroskey, Erica (Doug) Gabrielse, Hunter and Madalyn Petroskey, Nick and Caleb McAdams, Christian and Kiley Johnson; six great-grandchildren Parker, London, Elizabeth, Winter, Willow and Elias expected in November; a sister, Germaine Vignone of Florida;a brother, Jerome “Pete” (LaVonne) Petroskey of Oconomowoc; sister-in-law, Gloria Petroskey of Rhinelander; also survived by Penny’s family: Terry (Jeanne) Tatro, Patrick (Kelly) Tatro, Faith (Greg) Higgins, Scott Tatro and Jim Kempf; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents a sister, Louise (Geno) Brandt, a brother, Wilbur Petroskey; Penny’s family Rosa Andes, Cyril “Oli” Tatro, Cindy Kempf, Charlie Oesterreicher.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, October 24, 2019, at 11 a.m. at SS Mary & Hyacinth Catholic Church with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating. Entombment will take place in Queen of Peace Mausoleum.
Visitation will be 3:30 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. A parish wake service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers the family will direct memorials to Pulmonary Fibrosis research, SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and All Saints Catholic School.
