FOR ANTIGO TIMES

The Antigo Community Theatre proudly presents this beautiful musical “The Secret Garden” to be performed at the Volm Theater on November 1st, 2nd & 7th, 8th, 9th at 7:00 PM and a matinee on Sunday, November 3rd, at 2:00 p.m.  The musical is based on the children’s classic by Frances Hodgson Burnett. Orphaned in India, 11year-old Mary Lennox returns to Yorkshire, England to live with her embittered, reclusive Uncle Archibald and his invalid son Colin. The estate’s many wonders include a magic garden which beckons the children with haunting melodies and “Dreamers”. Spirits from Mary’s past guide her through her new life, dramatizing The Secret Garden’s compelling tale of forgiveness.

This enchanting classic of children’s literature is re-imagined in brilliant musical style by composer Lucy Simon and Marsha Norman, the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright of “Night Mother” and is presented by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. This amazing musical is also the winner of three Tony Awards.

We encourage everyone and in particular families to attend this live performance. “It is a special experience to explore a great literary classic through the lively arts and to share this tale with the Antigo community”; says ACT’s Artistic Director, Molly Gums. With the beautiful music and memorable characters, this tale is bound to delight the entire family
