4-H & Microsoft work together to train and empower youth
FOR ANTIGO TIMES
4-H Tech Changemakers is a new program in Langlade County where 4-H and Microsoft are working together to train and empower youth to help adults access technology and increase their comfort level with all different types of tech. Youth will be leading “mini lessons” and having open questions and answers period on the third Thursdays of the month starting Nov 21 through April 2020. 4-Hers will teach a short lesson about technology and then the participants can have their technology questions answered over a cup of coffee and a snack. The first mini session topic is “Internet and Password Safety.”
These young leaders will also host another “Coffee and Tech” session at the Dixie Lunch on Saturday, December 7th from 8 to 9 a.m. You are encouraged to bring any different devices that you would like assistance with to any of these sessions, but a few internet accessible devices will be available at the sessions. The 4-H Tech Changemakers are eager to help you in any possible ways that they can!
The 4-H Tech Changemakers have been training for many months and are excited to help as many people as they can. With the help of a grant from Microsoft, they will be doing future technology training sessions as well. At these sessions, they plan to focus on awareness of digital advantages and community resources, basic skills, communication such as video chats with loved ones, social media, online shopping, internet safety, smart home devices, and of course any questions individuals have.
These sessions are free and are open to any adults. If you would like more information on any of the scheduled sessions or have any questions, contact the Langlade County 4-H Office at 715-627-6236.
