Lyle Bert Shackle, 86
Lyle B. Shackle, of Antigo, died Sunday, November 24, 2019, at home under the care of his family and LeRoyer Hospice. He was 86 years old. He was born on March 29, 1933, in Milwaukee, a son of Lyle L. and Harriet (Downer) Shackle. He married Ardeth Mars on April 3, 1954, in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on November 9, 2009.
He attended Boys Technical School in Milwaukee. He served in the United States Navy Reserves stationed in Florida for four years. He then served four years in the United States Air Force Reserves stationed in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas.
Lyle raised his family in Menomonee Falls where he worked at Briggs & Stratton for 43 years. He moved to Antigo in June of 2014 to be near his daughter.
He was a devoted family man caring for his wife, sending birthday cards and writing letters daily to family members. His hobby was trains – riding on them, watching them and setting up model train sets.
Survivors include three daughters, Elizabeth Shackle, Antigo, Wendy (Ron) Boettcher, Honey Creek, Debbra (Tim) Cole, Pewaukee; a brother, Kenneth (Pam) Shackle, Hilton Head, South Carolina; eight grandchildren Kati, JJ, Chris, Bambi, Bianca, Brandy, Jon and Addie; 13 great-grandchildren Dillan, Angel, Summer, Miles, Kira, Jake, Phil, Lyle, Chuckie, Bridgette, Star, Anthony, Jameson; two great-great-grandchildren Sophia and Sebastian; nieces and nephews Mary, Bill, Shay, Kevin, Alyssa and Arrianna; uncle Don Downer and other relatives.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his son, Lyle K. Shackle.
Visitation will be 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Bradley Funeral Home.
