John Frey, 70

John Frey, of Summit Lake, died suddenly of natural causes Monday, November 25, 2019. He was 70 years old. He was born on December 7, 1948, in Antigo, a son of William and Rosemary (Heffernan) Frey. He married Lynn Jansen on September 21, 1974, in Whitefish Bay. She survives.

He graduated from Antigo High School with the class of 1967 and went on to receive a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point.

John enlisted in the United States Army and was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany where he served as a Chaplains Assistant.

Following military service he was employed at Duffek Sand and Gravel for a number of years and later as a sales representative for Axim Concrete Technologies.

He was a member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Lodge #662, Antigo and enjoyed golfing, hunting, and helping others in the woods and around the lake.

Survivors including his wife Lynn are a son, Joe (Susan) Frey, Whitefish Bay and their daughter Marguerite; a daughter, Jane (Mason) Mitchell, Rhinelander; two brothers, Patrick (Cherie) Frey, Polar, Thomas (Joni) Frey, Boise, Idaho; he is further survived by his wife’s family: Cynthia Jansen, Joana (Steve Levy) Jansen and Mark (Cat) Jansen.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Rich Gottsacker.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019, at 11:30 a.m. at Bradley Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Hoffmann officiating.

Visitation will be 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.

Hobo died at the hunting cabin doing what he loved to do, on the land he spent hours working on, with his son and best friends. His family will be lost for a while without him but they know he showed them how to love and care for each other.
