Diane Welnetz, of Antigo, died peacefully Sunday, April 12, 2020, at home under the care of her family and LeRoyer Hospice. She was 84 years old. She was born on October 9, 1935, in Antigo, a daughter of Nickolas and Elizabeth “Bessie” (Aulik) Lauby. She married Ernest Welnetz on August 20, 1955, at St. Hyacinth Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2005.

She was a graduate of Antigo High School in 1953.

Her husbands career in the United States Air Force moved the family throughout the United States returning to Antigo in 1970.

She was a member of SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and its Rosary Society and the prayer chain.

Years ago she was an organist at St. Mary Catholic Church, and gave many hours of volunteer work with the church and Aspirus Langlade Hospital.

Survivors include four daughters, Lisa Welnetz and John Walker of Antigo, Lynn (Cathy Sperry) Welnetz of Antigo, Lora Grams and Tim Harm of Rhinelander, Mary (Tom) Kubeny of Antigo; two sons, Mark (Kim) Welnetz of Ponte Vedra, Florida, Stephen (Shari) Welnetz of Jacksonville, Florida; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; two sons-in-law, Dale Quirk, Greg Zabrowski.

Private family services will be held. A public visitation and funeral Mass will be held at SS Mary and Hyacinth Catholic Church and announced after the Safe at Home guidelines are lifted.

The family found comfort and peace that Diane went home to be with our Lord on the day we celebrate His resurrection.
