We have had to make some tough decisions regarding programs, events, and facilities.

We appreciate your patience as we worked to make these decisions that considered our current local status regarding COVID-19, best practices from the CDC, Health Department, NRPA, and our local organizations.

Updates and information will be shared on our Facebook page and registration website.

GOALS:

  • Public Safety
  • Mitigation approach to facility access and program offerings, which allows for a planned change in response based on set criteria
  • What we implement today could change tomorrow

SAFETY for YOU and OUR COMMUNITY:

  • Maintain social distancing
  • Use a face mask
  • Wash or sanitize hands often
  • Stay home if you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze

THE FOLLOWING CITY SPONSORED ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS WILL BE CANCELLED FOR 2020 (ALL REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS WILL RECEIVE A FULL REFUND):

o   Considerations for cancellation:

  • Age of participants, and the likelihood of not being able to practice social distancing during play
  • Difficult to maintain sanitation and disinfection of equipment
  • Pitching Machine Baseball (Navy Blue and Orange) – Cancelled for 2020
  • Coach Pitch Baseball – Cancelled for 2020
  • T-ball – Cancelled for 2020
  • Soccer – Cancelled for 2020
  • Flag Football – Cancelled for 2020
  • Summer Open Skates – Cancelled for 2020
  • Pickleball – Cancelled for 2020

THE FOLLOWING CITY SPONSORED PROGRAMS ARE STILL SCHEDULED (with modifications):

  • DRINKING FOUNTAINS: CLOSED for 2020
  • CONCESSIONS: CLOSED for 2020
  • CAMPGROUND: OPEN
  • FIELDS, COURTS, SKATE PARK (Ball, Soccer, Basketball)-  These facilities are available for those to practice and safely social distance but the City of Antigo will not be scheduling any fields or courts and bases and/or equipment will not be available by the City of Antigo for 2020.   Ball fields will be dragged periodically for upkeep and maintenance
  • TOURNAMENTS-All baseball tournaments at City of Antigo fields for 2020 are cancelled.

MUSIC IN THE PARK-They are working to offer radio broadcasts for the concerts (more information to come)

FARMERS MARKET- The Farmers’ Market board will be making a decision on the market for 2020 (more information to come)

Our goal regarding community events utilizing our public spaces is to facilitate, and provide support and solutions, so groups and organizations can still offer our community, events and programs that implement best practices and safety measures with a slightly different (COVID friendly) format.

Ultimately, as long as the event is lawful, organizations and clubs make their own decisions with regards to holding the event as planned, cancelling, or rescheduling.  We recognize many of these events require a large number of volunteers, sponsorships, or donations that may not be available during these times, and unfortunately cancellation may be the only option.  We respect and support each organization and/or group’s decision.

Stay up-to date with cancellations and information via the following:

o   Community Website and Calendar:  www.alcinfo.com

o   City of Antigo Park and Rec Facebook Page

o   City of Antigo registration website for park facilities and activities
