Frances Wurzer, 87

Frances Wurzer, longtime Elton resident, died Tuesday, August 4, 2020, in Green Bay surrounded by family and loved ones. She was 87 years old. She was born on December 19, 1932, in Langlade, a daughter of Theodore and Regina (Lotto) Grimes. She married John “Slicker” Wurzer on October 1, 1955, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, Langlade. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2013.
Frances “Baby” Grimes attended grade school in Langlade, graduated from White Lake High School with the class of 1950, and attended vocational school in Green Bay.
Frances worked for the Green Bay Telephone Company as an office worker for two years followed by several years of office work at Johnson Service Parts in Milwaukee. Following marriage she moved to Elton where she and Slicker raised their family and operated a dairy farm.
After retirement she lived in Elton for 25 years, Antigo for several years, and more recently Appleton and Green Bay.
She was a member of Sts. James and Stanislaus Catholic Parish, White Lake and Langlade, where she helped with funeral dinners and was a member of their St. Ann’s Society.
Caring for and helping with her grandchildren gave Frances great joy. She often spoiled them with specially decorated birthday cakes and award winning chocolate chip cookies. She enjoyed embroidery, baking, and ceramics and gifted many of these items to her children and grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Tim) Conrad, Appleton, Linda (David) Racine, Green Bay; two sons, Michael (Janine) Wurzer, Leesburg, Florida, Patrick (Susan) Wurzer, Wausau; a sister, Mary “Dolly” Thomas, Lakewood; eight grandchildren Sarah Habeck, Stephen Wurzer, Matthew Conrad, Paul (Sarah) Conrad, Heather (Jonathan) Kessler, Brent (Tracy) Racine, Kelly (Derek) Hake, Emily Wurzer; two great-grandchildren Brody and Colton Hake.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by a brother, Myron Grimes; a sister-in-law, Grace Grimes; two brothers-in-law, Henry Wurzer, and Warren Thomas.
Visitation will be 9 to 11 a.m. on Tuesday August 11, 2020, at the Bradley Funeral Home.
A private funeral Mass will be held at St. James Catholic Church, White Lake.
Burial will take place at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Elton.
