FROM THE ALZHEIMER’S ASSOCIATION – WISCONSIN CHAPTER

The Alzheimer’s Association Wisconsin Chapter is proud to be teaming up with sportscasters Matt Lepay and Paul Braun, to raise funds for the Walk to End Alzheimer’s®.Lepay and Braun will serve as Honorary Walk Co-Chairs to raise awareness and funds.

Lepay lost his mother to Alzheimer’s disease in 2017, after a five-year battle. Braun’s wife was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease at the age of 59 and lost her battle in 2015. Having lost close family members, both sportscasters want to shine a light on the disease that more than 120,000 Wisconsinites are living with.

“This disease takes a devastating toll on so many families,” says Lepay. “I want to do my part to help raise funds for research, care and support services that will positively impact other families as they navigate their personal journey with Alzheimer’s.”

“I was a caregiver for my wife for five years,” says Braun. “I understand the toll it can take and I want to make sure caregivers know that there are services to support them on this journey.”

Lepay is the current voice of Wisconsin Badgers sports doing play-by-play for Badgers’ football and basketball. In recent years, he has also broadcasted many televised Brewers games. For over 40 years, Paul Braun was a recognizable voice in Wisconsin sports, doing play-by-play for the Badgers Men’s hockey team.Today, Paul continues to fight back against Alzheimer’s disease by making presentations and doing interviews about his experiences with this devastating disease.

The sportscasters are encouraging everyone to join their team and donate$35 or more to take home a commemorative black #ENDALZ t-shirt. To join the team and donate, visit bit.ly/sportscasters.
