Fifth Avenue Parking:
Recently there has been an increase in vehicles parking on Fifth Avenue from Field Street to Lincoln Street. Residents and visitors of downtown Antigo, this serves as a small reminder about overnight parking on Fifth Avenue. There is no parking in the downtown section of Fifth Avenue, which runs from Field to Lincoln, between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 7:00 a.m. This is clearly marked by the 18 “No parking” signs that are posted on this stretch.
There are businesses that run out of parking spaces during the day when these vehicles are left overnight and not moved until afternoon. This also creates a hassle for the street sweeper that operates in the overnight hours when the parking spaces are supposed to be cleared. We understand if you have overindulged at a downtown establishment. We can make an exception when a responsible decision is made, but several of the same vehicles are continually parked in the same spot.
Parking violations can result in a $25 fine.
Thank you for the cooperation.
