Antigo Police & Langlade County Sheriff Reports for 12/18/17

ANTIGO POLICE REPORTS

Monday, December 4th

11:53 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Hwy. 64 reporting a gas drive off that occurred on 12/2/17 for $25.01. The male subject was driving a green Chevy Lumina. Officers found out that the vehicle was listed to a male subject in Rhinelander. They were investigating.

4:02 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Lincoln Street reporting that a male subject took $20 from her the day before. She told officers that she had asked the male subject to give the money back to her, but he wouldn’t. Officers found out that the male subject did steal the money. He did return it to the female subject. The male subject stated that he wasn’t thinking when he took the money.

4:57 PM Officers received a call from a female on Sunset Drive reporting that they had a Christmas light projector worth $100 stolen the night before. Officers were advised.

11:57 PM Officers responded to a call from a female on Fred Street reporting a stolen gun. She told officers that she had been gone from 11/30/17 to 12/1/17 and when she returned, she noticed that the gun was missing. Nothing else was missing or out of place in the home. The female said that the gun was a very old .357 magnum revolver with a wooden handle and a 6 or 8 inch barrel, in very good condition. She told officers that she had not given anyone permission to take it. She gave officers the names of two possible male suspects.

Tuesday, December 5th

5:23 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 10th Avenue and Wausau Road. The female driver was arrested on two Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrants and a Marathon County Sheriff’s office warrant.

2:35 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that a 4-5 year old boy was running near her house, then into traffic on 6th Avenue and then to Clermont Street and 5th Avenue. She told officers that she yelled at the boy to stop, then another male stopped and they got the boy. He said his name and that he was looking for his mom. Officers discovered that the boy and his mother had been at the library and while the mother was checking out books, he decided to walk home. The boy’s mother had been looking for him around the library. They were reunited.

3:54 PM Officers received a call from a female reporting that she had backed her vehicle into another vehicle at an area business on 5th Avenue. She told officers that she had talked to the other driver,   but they did not want to give the caller any information. The female told officers that the accident had occurred about 30 minutes prior. She just wanted the information on file. Officers were advised.

Wednesday, December 6th

9:54 AM Officers talked to a male inmate regarding the possible theft of medications that were picked up at an area pharmacy by another male subject. Statements were taken by officers from both male subjects. The second male subject was arrested on a probation hold.

1:27 PM Officers responded to a report of an accident in the parking lot of an area business on Superior Street. One female driver was shaken up, but there were no injuries. A report was filed.

4:39 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Watson Street reporting that someone stole his star shower light projector worth $100, sometime the night before. A neighbor had video showing two kids running south on Watson Street, but it was not clear enough to identify the offenders.

8:02 PM Officers were contacted by a citizen reporting that there was damage to the Peaceful Valley warming house. A toilet was broken and the water was constantly running. The Department of Public Works was contacted. Video surveillance of the area would be viewed.

Thursday, December 7th

1:15 AM Officers responded to a call from a female on 2nd Avenue reporting that her house was on fire. A male subject was awakened by his son telling him that his bedroom was on fire. Something on the floor of the bedroom was on fire. A fire extinguisher was found and the fire was put out.

9:16 AM Officers received a call from a male reporting the theft of some of his items from a storage unit on Dorr Street. The male told officers that he hadn’t been there in several months, but recently went and found that several items were missing and moved around. The unit was locked when he arrived, but he put a new lock on it. He wanted the information on file.

6:27 PM Officers responded to a call from a female reporting that she struck a pole in the parking lot of an area business on Superior Street. There was damage to her vehicle, but it was drivable. A report was completed.

Friday, December 8th

1:58 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Edison Street reporting a fight in front of their building. Officers arrested one male subject. He was transported to Corrections.

8:32 AM Officers responded to a call from a male on North Avenue reporting that his chainsaw fell out of his truck that morning. The saw was a Husqvarna Model 555. He told officers that his neighbor had a photo of someone stopping in a four door, black Buick and picking up the saw. The license plate number of the vehicle was not readable on the photo.

10:52 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting a gas drive-off of $48.83. The driver was described as an elderly male subject who was driving a white Ford Explorer. He left going southbound on Hwy. 45. The caller gave officers the license plate number of the vehicle. Officers made contact with the male subject, who had tried to pay with a credit card. He went back to the business and paid the bill.

11:02 AM Officers referred a male student for having a dangerous weapon, other than a firearm on school premises at Antigo High School.

11:03 AM Officers referred a male student for disorderly conduct at Antigo High School.

11:04 AM Officers referred a male student for strangulation and suffocation at Antigo High School.

11:05 AM Officers cited a male student for disorderly conduct at Antigo High School.

11:05 AM Officers referred a male student for theft at Antigo High School.

1:18 PM Officers referred a male student for negligent handling of burning materials and recklessly endangering safety at Antigo High School.

8:29 PM Officers were out with a vehicle on 5th Avenue. Officers arrested a female subject for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony bail jumping. Officers also arrested a male subject for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Saturday, December 9th

2:32 AM Officers were out with a deer on Jerome Street which had jumped from a vehicle after being struck and picked up. A plow truck had hit the deer coming into town. The deer was thrown into the back of the truck and the driver began plowing the parking lot of an area business on Hwy. 64. The deer regained consciousness and jumped out of the truck. The deer was dispatched by officers.

3:38 AM Officers were out with a vehicle in front of an area business on Edison Street. The male driver was found passed out behind the wheel, with the engine running, lights on, and his seatbelt fastened. Officers woke the male subject up and told him that he needed to get a ride home. While officers were checking the male subject’s records, the male backed out and drove away. Officers stopped the vehicle on Superior Street. The male subject was arrested for operating while intoxicated, 2nd offense. He was transported to Corrections.

7:47 AM Officers responded to a call from an area business on Neva Road reporting that a male subject came through the drive through and tried to expose himself. The caller told officers that beginning last weekend the male subject has come through the drive through wearing a short white robe, with nothing underneath. It happened again at approximately 7:35 AM that morning. The male subject was described as a white male, in his late 20’s to early 30’s with short blond hair. He was driving an older, blue car.

6:57 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Superior Street and 6th Avenue. The male driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and was cited for operating while suspended.

Sunday, December 10th

2:20 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 4th Avenue and Superior Street. The male driver was arrested for operating while intoxicated. He was also cited for open intoxicants, failure to stop at a stop sign and operating without a license.

8:29 PM Offices executed a search warrant at a residence on 5th Avenue. A female subject was arrested on a probation hold, for possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana. A male subject was arrested on a probation hold, for possession of meth, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.

Monday, December 11th

1:49 AM Officers were out with three male subjects on 5th Avenue. One male subject was arrested on a Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrant. Two other male subjects were cited for underage alcohol.

LANGLADE COUNTY SHERIFF REPORTS

Friday, December 8th

9:07 PM Officers arrested a female subject at a residence on Lincoln Street on a Langlade County Sheriff’s office warrant for failure to pay a fine for operating without a license.

11:04 PM Officers responded to a call from an anonymous passerby reporting a vehicle in the ditch at Cty. Rd. J and Kennedy Road. There was no one at the scene with officers arrived. A tow truck was contacted. WPS was notified because the vehicle had hit the guide wire on a pole. One set of prints exited the ditch and went west on Cty. Rd. J and then north on Kennedy Road. Officers followed the foot prints for approximately 2.3 miles to Eager Beaver Lane. The prints belonged to the registered male owner of the vehicle. The male subject was uncooperative and refused standardized field sobriety testing. A crash report was completed. The subject was cited for operating left of center, failure to keep the vehicle under control, pedestrian failure to walk on the left side of the road and failure to notify authorities of an accident.

Sunday, December 10th

2:08 AM Officers responded to a 911 call from a male reporting that someone was in his home on Fairway Drive. He was able to whisper that information and nothing else was communicated other than by pressing buttons as the caller did not feel safe to talk. Forest County Sheriff personnel also provided mutual aid and responded to the scene. The residence was checked and cleared by officers. No one was found, officers didn’t see any fresh footprints in the snow and there were no signs of forced entry. The male caller told offices that he believed he had heard a male & female whispering in his living room.

9:20 PM Officers came upon a bicyclist slumped over in the ditch at Cty. Rd. J and Kennedy Road. The male subject was sleeping and intoxicated. He told officers that he was napping and was going to continue on his way home. He denied any assistance. Officers advised the male to walk instead of biking because of the snowy conditions.

Monday, December 11th

4:29 AM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting that he came upon a car in the ditch at Hwy. 47 and Pepper Creek Drive that had struck a tree. The caller stated that the male occupant was not injured, except for a possible dislocated thumb. Dispatch talked to the driver who said that he was sore and had back surgeries in the past. The Russell fire department and medic were paged. The vehicle had significant damage. The male subject told officers that he had been driving 60-65 MPH on snow covered roads when he reached for a cigarette that had fallen on the floor board and the car entered the ditch. The vehicle hit the ditch on Pepper Creek Drive, became airborne, and landed almost all the way across Pepper Creek Drive. The vehicle then took out a stop sign at the intersection and struck a tree. The male driver was cited for driving too fast for conditions. A state report was completed.

6:43 AM Officers responded to several report of a vehicle off of the road on Cty. Rd. A, just west of Cty. Rd. TT by the river. Officers then received a call from a female subject that was in the accident. She was complaining of rib pain. The vehicle was towed. A crash report was filed.

2:06 PM Officers responded to a call from a male on Eastview Drive reporting  that some jewelry, watches & wallets were stolen from his residence. He gave officers the name of a possible male suspect. A male and a female subject were referred on charges of theft.

3:48 PM Officers responded to a call from a male reporting a chimney fire at a residence on North Street. The Norwood Fire Department was dispatched to the call. The caller told officers that he noticed that the chimney had flames coming out of the top. He also notified the male homeowner who used a fire extinguisher to put the flames out. The Norwood Fire Department remained on the scene until it was cleared.
