Antigo Police Reports for 11/30/15

Sunday, November 22nd

5:57 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at Mendlick and N. Superior streets. The driver was cited for Operating while Suspended.

2:22 PM An officer received a call from a male reporting that his vehicle was missing from 6th Avenue & Clermont Street.

1:58 PM Officers responded to a call of a near head-on collision on Hwy. 45 north of Neva Corners. The suspect vehicle was now southbound on Neva Road in Antigo. Officers stopped the vehicle just south of town. The female driver was warned. She stated that she made a bad judgment when passing.

12:22 AM An officer responded to a call from an area gas station regarding a subject not paying for their gasoline. The subject pumped $10 worth of gas. The officer received a description of the vehicle and was told the vehicle left northbound from the station. Information was given to city squads.

Saturday, November 21st

11:48 AM Officers responded to a call of vandalism. A male reported that two of the tires on his car were slashed while it was parked on Arctic Street. It is believed to have happened sometime after 8:30 p.m. The officer observed a small puncture in the side wall of the front tire on the passenger side. The male believes that he knows who did the damage. Officers went to the subject’s residence and spoke with him. He denied having any knowledge or involvement.

9:16 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Superior Street. The male driver was issued a citation for Operating after Suspension.

6:46 PM Officers responded to a theft report on 1st Avenue. A female reported that her son’s bicycle was taken. She believed that a person who stole fishing poles from a residence on the same street may have taken the bicycle. The boy had ridden the bike two days before the poles were stolen, and put the bicycle back in the garage. The bicycle is not registered with the city. The caller will find photo of her son’s bike.

8:00 AM An officer responded to a call from a female on S. Hudson Street reporting the theft of her wallet from her vehicle. The wallet was left on the center console of her unlocked vehicle in the driveway overnight. The wallet contained various cards and approximately $100 cash.

3:23 AM Received 911 call, male subject said he dialed by mistake but would not identify himself initially. He could be heard arguing with female in background. The male subject was told he could get in trouble for dialing 911 when not needed. He said he would fight if he was arrested. Officers went to the residence and the male subject did engage in a fight with officers while being arrested. There were no injuries.

Friday, November 20th

7:26 PM An officer responded to a call from a female on 6th Avenue. She reported that a juvenile male left his bike in her yard the other day and has not returned to get it. She wants the bike removed. An officer called the juvenile’s mother and left a message to have bike removed.

12:43 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at 5th Avenue and Lincoln Street. The driver was issued a 10-day correction warning for an expired registration.

Thursday, November 19th

2:08 PM Officers responded to a call from a local business that someone filled up their dumpster with garbage. They found a name in the garbage. The subject was warned that any more illegal dumping will result in citations and was also issued an abatement letter for garbage lying around her residence.

11:10 AM Officers responded to a two-vehicle accident with damage at 4th Avenue & Superior Street. A voluntary report was taken. The driver of one vehicle was cited and a traffic education pamphlet was issue.

9:52 AM Officers responded to call of an attempted break-in at a business on Hwy. 64. Two pieces of stripped coax cable were found at the rear door. It is believed that someone tried to pick the rear door lock with the cable. Entry was not gained.

4:54 AM Officers stopped a vehicle at Neva Road and North Avenue. The male driver was issued a citation for operating after suspension and warned for speed and having no insurance.

Wednesday, November 18th

9:03 AM An officer responded to a call from a business on Superior Street requesting that a call be made to a male resident on Superior Street regarding placing his garbage in their garbage container on a daily basis.

Tuesday, November 17th

7:43 PM Officers responded to an accident on Washington Avenue. A female reported that her parked car was struck by another vehicle driven by a male subject. A voluntary report was taken.

6:00 PM Officers stopped a vehicle at a business on Hwy. 45. The male owner was issued a citation for non-registration.

11:47 AM The manager of an area business stopped at the police department regarding two shoplifting incidents at the business. The first incident occurred on 11/10/15 when two juveniles stole a lighter. The juveniles were identified. One admitted to stealing the lighter. The manager agreed not to press charges if the lighter was paid for and an apology letter was written. The other juvenile was advised that there could be consequences for being with someone stealing and knowing about it. Both juveniles were told that they are no longer allowed in the business. The mothers of both juveniles were advised of the situation. The second incident involved a juvenile male, who had not been identified. The manager will call if the juvenile comes to the business again.

9:28 AM Officers responded to a report of prescription drugs found in the bathroom of an apartment building. All items were identified and destroyed.

8:17 AM Officers responded to a call from a female who reported a probable scam attempt. She had received a call the evening before that showed up on the caller ID as “SSI,” which she is on. The caller demanded payment and wanted a debit card number. The female gave them no information and hung up the phone.

Monday, November 16th

12:18 PM Officers responded to a report of firewood stolen from a Virginia Street residence. The caller said he had an idea who may have taken the firewood. A juvenile suspect was contacted and said they did take some firewood from owner’s shed. The juvenile was advised to apologize to owner and either volunteer to replace the firewood or pay for the amount taken.
