Antigo Student Offered Scholarship to Concordia, Nebraska Shooting Team

FOR ANTIGO TIMES

Breanna is a member of the Antigo Red Robins Shooting Sports Team (a school club). This club team started as the Antigo Youth Shooting Club in 2012, and she is one of the original members and first girl of the team. She joined the team because she wanted to do something outside of the box and found that she loved the sport. At first it was not easy; having never shot a gun before made for some low scores and a lot of frustration but she persevered. With help and encouragement from her coaches, her skill improved and so did her scores. Her determination not to give up helped her, including shooting from a chair with a torn ACL at the State Skeet Championship.

During her shooting career she has competed at the local, state and national levels. Locally she has helped the team take conference for the past 3 years. At Scholastics Clay Target Program State Competitions in 2015, she placed 4th in Trap and Sporting clays, and in 2016 she placed 4th in Skeet and 1st in Sporting Clays. She also has taken gold at the Badger State Games in 2015 and 2016. She has competed at Nationals since 2013 in Illinois and Ohio.

This year Breanna was invited by Coach Scott Moniot to join the Concordia, Nebraska Shooting team and was offered a scholarship to shoot. Breanna saw that Concordia has a Business program along with an Arts Administration program and has accepted. She is looking forward to meeting new people and traveling to other states to compete. Breanna is motivated to let other young shooters know that the sport is at the college level and there are scholarships out there for shooting sport athletes.

She has always believed you don’t have to be a hunter to enjoy shooting. Breanna has never been afraid to try different things even if her friends don’t have the same interest. She would like to encourage young females to give it a try.

Congratulations, Breanna!

Breanna signs with Concordia, Nebraska with her proud parents.
