The Antigo wrestling team defeated Tomahawk 49-27 on Tuesday night. They improved to 2-1 in the GNC and earned pins by Connor Dettman, Ben Stimac, Dylan Dykstra, Josh Heuss, and Nick Roller. Brandon Lucht earned a major decision over the 10th ranked wrestler in the state, Wyatt Wenninger.
“We had a great night wrestling. Our young guys really came through. Dettman pinned a very good wrestler. Dykstra and Heuss are examples of the future of our team. They're young guys and very formidable on the mat. I asked Brandon Lucht to move up a weight and take on Tomahawk's best wrestler. He came through in a big way. He didn't just beat him. He threw him to his back twice. Brandon is really starting to peak,” Coach Ben Olsen said.
The tough week continues Thursday with Rhinelander. “We beat them last year, much to their surprise. It will be an intense match. We can use all the support we can get.”
Wrestling starts at 6:30 in Rhinelander.
