Beatrice Goerke, of Elcho, died Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Care Partners in Antigo under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 90 years old. She was born on July 18, 1924 in Rhinelander, a daughter of Harry and Lucille (Miller) Dake.
She married Glen Fredrick Goerke on October 24, 1953 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waukesha. The couple divorced in 1973 and he preceded her in death on August 23, 1998.
Bea worked at Wisconsin Bell and Telephone in Waukesha for 10 years. She moved to Elcho in 1967 where she served as town treasurer for 16 years.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Elcho where she served as housekeeper for five different priests and caretaker of the church for 17 years. She was a member and past president of the Ladies of Holy Family Catholic Church, member and past president of the Noetzelman-Boodry American Legion Post 377 Auxiliary. Bea also worked as a clerk at the family operated Goerke's Corner gas station and convenience store for 10 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Gloria (Rodney) Duernberger, Schofield; three sons, Gary (Brenda) Goerke, Elcho, Marty (Leah) Goerke, Cecil, Donald Goerke, Elcho; a sister, Dorlores Froland, Elcho; a brother, Donald (Maxine) Dake, Ocala, Florida; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild, eight step-grandchildren and several step-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two sons, Gregory in infancy and Roger Goerke; a grandson, Greg Goerke, a sister, Mildred (George) Parise, a brother, James Dake, and a brother-in-law, Elroy Froland.
The funeral Mass will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Elcho with Rev. David Zimmerman officiating. Burial will take place in Elcho Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. on Saturday until the time of services at the church.
