Caroline Verhasselt, of Antigo, died Saturday, May 4, 2019, at Care Partners under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was 88 years old. She was born on June 16, 1930, a daughter of Wencel and Clara (Butler) Hayek. She married Francis Verhasselt on July 1, 1950, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Antigo. He preceded her in death on May 19, 2011.
Caroline and Francis operated a dairy farm in the town of Norwood for 35 years. She also worked seasonally at Teals Foliage.
She was a member of St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church and enjoyed cooking, gardening and riding on the golf cart with her dog Annie.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl (Tim) Lenzner, Antigo and Bonnie Morgan, Hatley; two sons, Michael (Joan) Verhasselt, Fayetteville, NC and Karl Verhasselt, on the family farm in Phlox; six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Marie Now, Appleton.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a son, Terrance in infancy; one grandson Mark Verhasselt; two sons-in-law Kevin Block and Mitch Morgan; three brothers, Clarence, Richard, and Wencel Jr., Hayek; five sisters, Idell Price, Christine Keen, Helen Brooks, Rosie Schultz and Dorothy Rank.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Holy Family Catholic Church with Rev. Edmundo Siguenza officiating. Burial will take place in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be 3 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the Bradley Funeral Home and 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday at the church. A parish wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
