Retired Educators Wisconsin Retirement System Seminar October 4th 6:30-8pm Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont St., Antigo. The Langlade County Retired Educators Association will host a free seminar for participants of the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). The focus will be on the Wisconsin Retirement System benefits and options. The seminar is geared to all WRS participants (whether in education or not) who are planning to retire or beginning to think about it. Play & Learn October 6th 9:30-11am Antigo Community Church - Room #2, 723 Deleglise Street, Antigo. Play & Learn is a weekly play group program for parents, caregivers and children from birth to age 5. Staff will provide a parent lesson, an activity for parents and children to do together.  The activity will build skills for school readiness and milestone achievement. Quarterly Ages and Stages questionnaires are made available to parents and caregivers to assist families in helping their children to reach age based development milestones. Misinformation and Misperception in Politics October 6th 6:30-8pm Antigo Public Library, 617 Clermont Street, Antigo. One of the biggest challenges we face during elections is to be informed citizens.  How do we determine what is misinformation and misperception?  Where do we look for the culprits? Professor Shah's research shows that the answer is both far simpler and far more complex than we might assume.

Community Homecoming Pep Assembly October 6th 7pm (following the Powder Puff football tournament) Schofield Stadium, Antigo. AHS students, parents and community members are invited to participate. Come and support all of our fall athletes, participate in Sumo Wrestling, throw a pie in a teacher’s face, smash the Hodag car! Powder Puff football playoffs will begin at 4pm.  The championship game will be played at 8pm following the assembly. Students will be competing in a variety of games for spirit week points – Parents may even be asked to join in, too!  Cheering, class competitions, performances by the boys’ dance teams and other fun events will help us get fired up for Friday’s game! Concessions will be available.

Homecoming Parade October 7th 4pm Antigo. The parade starts at St. John’s and goes to West Elementary School on 5th Avenue. Hibernator 100 Bike Race October 8th Laona. 8am for the bikes, 8:30am for the runners. A 100 mile or 100 K  or 29 mile limited support gravel road ride through the Nicolet National Forest hosted by the Laona Rescue Squad. Now is the time to pack in some more miles and enjoy the amazing fall colors of the Nicolet National Forest. Something for the non-riders.  Walk/Run/Hike 5, 10 & 20 K routes will be available for those looking to see the Nicolet by foot. There is no registration fee. A donation of $20 will help cover expenses and support the Laona Rescue Squad.

Gartzke Flowage New Shed Building Work Day October 8th Gartzke Flowage Hiking, Cross-Country Ski & Snowshoe Trails, W6379 5th Avenue Road, Antigo. The Antigo Bike and Ski Club is looking for volunteers to help build a new storage shed at Gartzke Flowage.  They will be meeting on October 8 to start construction. Biketoberfest October 8th Bob & Joni’s, N4495 St. Hwy. 55, White Lake. Enjoy a laid back single track ride through the Nicolet Roche trails on Saturday, October 8 for Biketoberfest. The biking starts as soon as you sign up. No fee required. You can leave from Bob and Joni's or just drive to the trail head on Highway 64. It's about two miles to the trailhead from Bob and Joni's. Single track ride through the Nicolet Roche trail system. Ride as long as you like. Cards will be handed out along the way to make it a poker run. Best of five cards will wins. So the more you bike the more cards you get. Meet back at Bob and Joni's in the afternoon. More giveaways will be handed out back at Bob and Joni's.
